Face of the Day!

So I failed at the 30 day challenge. Too many times I was in a rush or really needed a certain shadow to complete a look. I used my Sugarpill and Ben Nye Essential Palette quite a few times during this challenge. I can say that I did find a bunch of colors I love in my stash that I forgot about it. Maybe next time I will do a shorter challenge.

Benefit Watt's Up

 photo 041.jpg
Goodmess, Benefit has been BLOWING me away lately with their cheek products. I love this company for so many reasons, one being the adorably cute names all their products have but the biggest reason I love them is because so many of their products are simply amazing! I tried High Beam a few years ago and did not care for it. Now I realize it was because I simply did not know how to use it. I have been hardcore into makeup for 3 years now and I am still discovering new products and ways of applying them that suit my face. FUN!!! I ended up trying High Beam again and it became my most favorite highlighter ever. However a sad day occurred. My little sample size bottle ran out. I stored it upside down, stuck q-tips in it and really scraped out every single last bit of it. I am on a no buy so I was feeling quite panicked about not having a highlighter. I ended up trading a friend from a makeup group, I got her new Watt's Up and she got my new Sleek palette that I have had for MONTHS and never touched!   Read about my experience below!

What is it? A cream to powder highlighter
 How much is it? $30.00
Where to buy it? Benefit website, Sephora and Ulta

What is it supposed to do? Text taken from the product listing on the Benefit Website. "Our soft focus highlighter turns on “watt” ya got with a delicate champagne glow that’s gorgeous. With a cream-to-powder finish...it’s a switch on “wow” for all complexions. You’ll adore the smooth applicator & luminous sheen."
What does it ACTUALLY do? This product lives up to it's claim and then some. This color highlighter is new to me and  I really like it. Benefit calls it "champagne" in color and I would have to agree. I swiped the stick across my cheeks which applied a GENEROUS amount of highlighter. I tried using the sponge thing that is on the bottom of the tube but personally I did not like it. It is too small and just seems gross. I like to wash my sponges and applicators often and because this is attached it is not possible. I just blended it in with my fingers.

Overall thoughts? I freaking LOVE this highlighter. I swear Benefit just hits home runs with everything I try lately! I found that it gave me a subtle glow without being too shiny. It applied very smoothly and blended perfectly into my skin. It has replaced High Beam as my new favorite highlighter for sure. The two things I do not like are the price and the size. I find most things from Benefit that come in a tube/twist up form are pretty small in the amount of product you get and the pricing is quite high. Personally, most Benefit products are out of my budget but because of the sheer awesomeness of them I make exceptions. I most likely WILL buy this product once I run out, the only reason I would not is if I try and prefer another highlighter from Benefit or another company.

Have you tried Watt's up? If so, what did you think? What is your favorite highlighter?

Benefit, Fine-One-One

What is it? Sheer, Brightening color for cheeks and lips
 How much is it? $30
Where to buy it? Online at the Benefit website, Sephora and Ulta

What is it supposed to do? Description taken from the product listing on the Benefit website -This sheer brightening cheek & lip color gives your look instant LIFT, SHAPE and POP. Glide on the  three shades—pink champagne, sheer watermelon and soft coral—for a sheer coral pink flush that builds from soft & natural to bright & cheery.

What does it ACTUALLY do?  I am having horrible sinus issues and feel like death in the pictures below. You can see that it did actually brighten and lift my face up. To apply , I simple pressed it against my face , starting at the apple of my cheeks and glided it upwards. Then I carefully buffed the lines out using my fingers. It was very quick and easy to apply.

Overall thoughts? I like this product quite a bit. On most days I just do a quick face and Fine-One-One is going to work perfectly because it basically has all three products I normally use in one (highlighter, blush and the contrasting shades give a contoured effect). I also think this product would be great for people who are just getting into makeup. It takes the guess work about where to apply the different products by putting them all in one applicator. The packaging is plastic, it reminds of a little deodorant or something. I do feel like the amount of product is small for the price of $30. If you used it everyday I doubt it would last more than a month. I did not try it on my lips. That just seems weird to me. Rubbing it on your cheeks and then your lips. I dunno. I just won't end up using it on my lips. I am finding myself drawn to products by Benefit more and more lately. I am dying to try fakeup!!

Have you tried Fine-One-One? If so what did you think? What is your favorite Benefit product? Mine has to be High Beam highlighter which is funny because when I very first tried it years ago I HATED IT!

My Christmas Gifts!

My husband I decided to not exchange anything expensive this year and just do really small gifts. He surprised me with Coach Poppy. I wasn't expecting it at all. I had smelled it in an Ulta catalog last month and mentioned I liked it. He went in the catalog and pulled out the sample and saved it so he could remember which one to buy! Super cute!! I also got a couple manicure things, Burt's Bees Lemon Butter cuticle cream and some awesome over sized glitter barrettes in my stocking! Thank you Santa!! The elf nail polish set came from my niece . Earlier in the month my husband sent me in to Ulta with $60 and I came out spending only $20 on a mini Benefit face set and a Real Techniques brush. I could not find anything I needed or really wanted! Crazy!!!

I am SMITTEN with Some kind-a gorgeous!!! It is described as a "foundation faker". The product description says, This cream-to-powder formula means silky, even perfection for your complexion. So translucent, its THE finish for most skin tones. Its an instant beauty boost any time of day!

I totally agree with the product description. The formula itself is very smooth, It reminds me a little bit of  Benefit Porefessional . Just like Porefessional, as you apply this it just melts right into your skin. Normal pricing on a full size is $30 but to me it is totally worth it.

You can see how light weight and translucent it is below on my finger. I apply it to my entire face using a stippling brush and it gives the perfect amount of coverage. I am finding lately that my face looks older when I use a thicker coverage foundation but with Some kind-a gorgeous it is so light weight  that it doesn't accentuate all the fine lines I have. The one thing I do not love is the scent. It smells gross in my opinion. I can overlook the scent though because it is a really neat product.

I actually keep forgetting I have this. I will try it out ASAP and do a new post about it.

I love my Real Techniques face brushes so I picked this shading brush up from Ulta for only $5.99. I love how affordable these brushes are. Just like the face brushes, this brush is very soft and nice. It is a great eyeshadow brush. It is a great addition to my brush hoard.

 elf Nail Polish Gift Set
This set was a gift, probably from Target and I would image it was $5-$7. I have a lot of nail polishes but most of these colors were unique and not in my collection so I was happy. I used the nude color once and really liked it.

Santa gave me this cream in my stocking, but I have seen it at Target for $5.99 and also in a gift set with a lip balm for $4.99. I have heard great things about this cream. It smells heavenly. I have used it a few times but have not noticed a difference in my cuticles yet. I have pretty dry hands and my cuticles are a mess usually so hopefully this cream works its magic!

Also in my stocking were these insanely fabulous over sized barrettes!! You can see how huge they are compared to a MAC lipstick!! I do happen to know these are sold at Target and you can find them in the girl's accessory section in the clothing dept. for around $4.

So that was my little Christmas haul!! What did you get for Christmas? Have you tried any of the products above? If so, what do you think about them?

Benefit Hervana - Guest Post by Lisa

Text taken from the Benefit website-

This powder in four shades–Lucky Shell, Divine Peach, Heavenly Rose and Berry Delight–blend together perfectly for an orchid-blossom blush with a soft satin finish. Swirl and sweep it on for a heavenly flush of enlightenment.

My makeup sensei Lisa was able to get her hands on Hervana during a flash sale at Sephora . Here is what she had to say!
Hervana on the left and Dandelion on the right. they look similar in swatches (dandelion has more shimmer) but i think Hervana has more of a peachy tone than Dandelion. Hervana has more of a satin finish, while Dandelion has more of a shimmer finish. I paid $28 for this blush which is the standard price for all Benefit blushes.

Hervana ( no flash)

What do you think of Hervana? I personally have not tried any of the pressed Benefit blushes but it looks really pretty! Are you going to buy it?

Thank you Lisa for sharing your swatches and opinions on Hervana!!

Benefit Feeling Cheeky Mini Set

I recently picked up this nifty little cheek tint set from Sephora.
I paid $15.
I had been looking for something to give me that
"flushed" look and almost all of my friends
recommended Benefit benetint.

I sold high beam because I really do not like the
way illuminators make my face look shiny. It irks me.

Opening the bottle surprised me because the applicator looked
like a really cheesy stiff nail polish brush. I tried applying this with the brush
to my cheeks but because this is a stain type tint it sets like uber fast.
So fast you do not really have a chance to blend it out.
I applied some to my fingers and rubbed it in and that seemed to
work a bit better but it stained my fingers.
Overall the best way to apply is with one of those foam
makeup wedges.

Posietint is a petal-pink stain that plants a kiss

of see-through tint on cheeks and lips.

I agree with the product description. Posie tint gives a really nice sheer pink color.

Benefit Benetint is a kiss-proof and waterproof, indelibly sheer tint. It gives an innocent yet provocative glow to keep everyone guessing, "what has she been up to?"

Totally agree with the product description! This gives
the best rose colored flush look! It is a bit
hard to apply because it stains so fast but overall
I really like it. Plus it smells like roses!!

I used benetint on my cheeks and lips here.
I lightly applied Dusty Rose from Antoinette's
Revolution Cosmetics on my eyes.

Overall I really like these tints. While they are a bit of a pain
to apply they are worth the hassle because of the gorgeous
flushed look they achieve.

What is your favorite tint from Benefit?
