Sephora Air Brush Foundation

I follow Kandee Johnson on Instagram and she posted about a new video she made showing how you can use airbrush foundation with out an airbrush. I was intrigued so I watched the video. She showed a few different products but the one that stood out was Dior Airflash Spray Foundation. Dior Airflash retails for $62. Can we say OUCH!!!! I was going to get it and try it out  but one of my friends told me that Sephora has a spray airbrush foundation that some reviewers were saying was just as good as Dior Airflash. I decided to try out the Sephora brand first because of the cost. First thing I noticed on the Sephora website is they have two different airbrush foundations. One is Sephora Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation for $26 and the other is called Sephora Instant Airbrush Foundation and was on clearance for $9. I bet you can guess which one I chose. LOL. The ingredients on both foundations are almost similar. There are a few differences but I am unsure if it makes a difference or not in the finished product.

I chose light based on the swatches I had seen on other blogs.

You can twist the nozzle to adjust the coverage when you spray.
I found this not to be very accurate and the same amount of foundation
was sprayed no matter what setting I used.

I did not want to spray this directly on my face. I bought it specifically to use with a brush. From other bloggers and reviewers I learned that you use a lot of the product when spraying directly onto your face and that the product will not last very long.

I used my Real Techniques stippling brush to apply the foundation.

I first put this foundation on without a primer. YUCK. It was really dry and sort of settled into all my pores instead of hiding them. A primer is a MUST with this foundation in my opinion. I found the shade Light to be a bit light for me especially because I have a little color from it being Summer. I chose light because medium looked quite dark and pulled pink. I hate pink undertones on my face. I found this foundation to be a full coverage foundation. It dried almost immediately upon applying it to a soft and matte finish. It looks quite nice for a full coverage foundation because it does not really look like you are wearing much foundation. I also like how it feels like you are wearing nothing on your face. Nothing drives me more insane than the feeling of a moist, heavy foundation.

My overall thoughts on this foundation are good. I think for $9 this foundation is a STEAL and affordable enough for everyone to try it out. It has great coverage and looks great on the skin. I am interested in trying the new Sephora airbrush foundation and sadly still want to try the overpriced Dior foundation as well.

Have you tried Sephora airbrush foundation, either the new or the old? How about Dior Airflash? If so, what did you think?

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

I splurged and used my sponsorship funds to order some high end foundation. For years I have been using Maybelline Dream Mousse Matte and most recently Ulta's version of a mousse foundation. Both worked okay but I have to use a very light hand when applying. If I apply to thickly all of my fine lines seem to stand out. Lines I didn't even know I had would appear. Not good. I started thinking and formed a theory in my head that maybe a liquid foundation that ISN'T matte would work better on an aging face. I figured the liquid would hydrate more instead of just settling into the lines. My theory was correct because when I use the liquid I do not really see as many lines.

Naked Face               Thin layer of Nars Sheer Glow in Mount Blanc
I decided on Nars Sheer Glow for a couple of reasons. I like the whole "sheer" aspect. I hate the look of heavy foundation and I really hate the feel of it. Plus my skin is in decent shape so I do not need anything heavy. I was also intrigued by the "glow". I thought it would be more illuminating and am a bit disappointed that there it isn't really a "glow" to it. It is pretty sheer though. The pictures make it look more full coverage than it actually is. I am pretty impressed at how little I have to use to cover my entire face. I applied it with a Real Techniques Stippling brush.

A little goes a long way which is nice since Sheer Glow is $42 a pop.
I bought this foundation from Apothica, their product listing describes Nars Sheer Glow as a glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, Sheer Glow Foundation improves the skin's brightness and texture.

Here is my face after applying some blush and highlighter
Overall I am happy with this foundation. I was afraid I would dislike it because it was liquid but it melts into the skin without feeling heavy or making my face feel greasy. It has decent staying power. I have worn it quite a few times now for 12+ hours without much fading or it settling into lines. I have a habit of touching my nose a lot so I did notice it rubbed off after awhile. I am pretty pleased to finally have a new, better foundation!

Have you tried Nars Sheer Glow? If so, what did you think? Any other good light coverage foundations you would recommend?

My Christmas Gifts!

My husband I decided to not exchange anything expensive this year and just do really small gifts. He surprised me with Coach Poppy. I wasn't expecting it at all. I had smelled it in an Ulta catalog last month and mentioned I liked it. He went in the catalog and pulled out the sample and saved it so he could remember which one to buy! Super cute!! I also got a couple manicure things, Burt's Bees Lemon Butter cuticle cream and some awesome over sized glitter barrettes in my stocking! Thank you Santa!! The elf nail polish set came from my niece . Earlier in the month my husband sent me in to Ulta with $60 and I came out spending only $20 on a mini Benefit face set and a Real Techniques brush. I could not find anything I needed or really wanted! Crazy!!!

I am SMITTEN with Some kind-a gorgeous!!! It is described as a "foundation faker". The product description says, This cream-to-powder formula means silky, even perfection for your complexion. So translucent, its THE finish for most skin tones. Its an instant beauty boost any time of day!

I totally agree with the product description. The formula itself is very smooth, It reminds me a little bit of  Benefit Porefessional . Just like Porefessional, as you apply this it just melts right into your skin. Normal pricing on a full size is $30 but to me it is totally worth it.

You can see how light weight and translucent it is below on my finger. I apply it to my entire face using a stippling brush and it gives the perfect amount of coverage. I am finding lately that my face looks older when I use a thicker coverage foundation but with Some kind-a gorgeous it is so light weight  that it doesn't accentuate all the fine lines I have. The one thing I do not love is the scent. It smells gross in my opinion. I can overlook the scent though because it is a really neat product.

I actually keep forgetting I have this. I will try it out ASAP and do a new post about it.

I love my Real Techniques face brushes so I picked this shading brush up from Ulta for only $5.99. I love how affordable these brushes are. Just like the face brushes, this brush is very soft and nice. It is a great eyeshadow brush. It is a great addition to my brush hoard.

 elf Nail Polish Gift Set
This set was a gift, probably from Target and I would image it was $5-$7. I have a lot of nail polishes but most of these colors were unique and not in my collection so I was happy. I used the nude color once and really liked it.

Santa gave me this cream in my stocking, but I have seen it at Target for $5.99 and also in a gift set with a lip balm for $4.99. I have heard great things about this cream. It smells heavenly. I have used it a few times but have not noticed a difference in my cuticles yet. I have pretty dry hands and my cuticles are a mess usually so hopefully this cream works its magic!

Also in my stocking were these insanely fabulous over sized barrettes!! You can see how huge they are compared to a MAC lipstick!! I do happen to know these are sold at Target and you can find them in the girl's accessory section in the clothing dept. for around $4.

So that was my little Christmas haul!! What did you get for Christmas? Have you tried any of the products above? If so, what do you think about them?

Physicians Formula Haul

The Rite Aid near my house had a bunch of Physicians Formula stuff on clearance so I bought a TON. I bought most of it for the blog giveaway last week and this is what I ended up keeping for myself. I paid roughly $3 per item. Not bad considering regular price is around $10-$15 per item.

I have never used a Kabuki brush and was pretty excited. It is made from natural hair but it is not particularly soft which I was hoping for. I used it for the first time with some pressed powder and liked the way applied the powder. As I sat there finishing my makeup my husband told me I had cat hair all over my face. I looked closer and this brush shed 4 big gross white hairs on my face. YUCK. I have used it numerous times and it still will shed at least one hair every time. Annoying. At $3 it is still worth it but if I paid $10 I would be pissed.

I have never really used powder on my face until recently. I have been using a pressed  powder by elf which I did not like too much but it did make my eyebrows seem less harsh and it gave me a softer finish on my face. This was on clearance so I figured I would see how I liked it. This powder claims to do a lot. Protect your face from sun damage, restore it using natural extracts and prevent damage with antioxidants. All of that sounds good but who can tell if it is actually doing all of those things, right??? As a powder it is very nice. I like it a million times better than the elf powder. It has a way better smell and it seems to give a more airbrushed finish to my skin. However if I had to pay regular price I would still stick with the elf powder.

I am super picky about moisturizers and liquid foundations. I absolutely hate the feeling of anything sticky or oily on my face. This moisturizer also has the same claims as the powder foundation, protects, prevents and restores. Sure. It is hypoallergenic, fragrance free, paraben free, non-irritating, non-comedogenic and oil-free. It went on pretty light and did not give me a greasy feeling. I still could feel it on my face but like I said, I am super picky. At $14.95 this is pricey but for a moisturizer and a foundation in one it is a good deal.

This blush is super pretty and shimmery. I personally like a shimmer glow on my cheeks but I know a lot of people dislike it. Physicians Formula says -
2-in-1 blush and highlighter illuminates and defines cheeks for a pretty and pink glow.
Features five coordinated waves of luminous color for shade customization.
Darker shades can be used to contour and accentuate cheeks.
Lighter shades can be used for an instant highlighting and brightening effect.
Sweep across all shades for the ultimate blushing glow.
I agree with everything they said. I really like this blush. At $11.95 it is a bit expensive for a drug store brand but you are getting a highlighter, bronzer, blush and contour all in one.

I disliked this A LOT!! It was very matte and very chalky. The bronzer made my face look dirty.  There was really nothing good about this except the cute packaging. Physicians Formula claims this blush/bronzer will give you a sun kissed natural finish but I found it just to be harsh and gross. Not a fan!!!

So that was my Physicians Formula haul!! What did you think? Have you tried any of these products and if so, what did you think? Giveaway winners, what did you think of your Physicians Formula prizes???
