Moi Minerals Haul!

           I got my Moi Model package awhile ago and wanted to share some swatches and pics with you. Some of these products are not available yet but all should be ready for purchase around the beginning of July when the new website launches. Until then.....prepare to drool!

Gel Liners

New Blush!

               I Love Coral is AMAZING!! I really love Moi Minerals blush. It applies smoothly and blends really easily. These blushes are available now.  You get a 10 gram jar for $7.95

    Moi Minerals Black Out Collection. This collection is due to come when the new website launches but a few of them were released last month. Did you get one? First off I was not happy to get this in my model package because I usually hate pigments that are designed to be used over black bases. They never seem to be worth the hassle of the thick black base they require. The color shifts are never that intense etc. Well as I swatched this collection my mind was instantly changed. OMG these are so COOL!! I love Far Away, Shiner, Night Shift and Babylon with Shiner being my favorite. I am not in love with the golds only because golds are not really my thing.

    Like I said above, I never liked these type of shadows so I have no real practice or experience using them so I decided to just go with a solid color on the lid and use Shiner. I was coming off of a week of wearing no makeup and boy did this make me feel good. The color is absolutely gorgeous!!

          I did a full Moi Minerals face! Shiner on the eyes, some of the new cream highlighter on my cheeks along with I Love Coral blush, a little of of the HD3 powder on my face and Naughty Nurse on my lips. 

            Later on in the day I wanted to spice up the look a bit so I pulled my hair back and added some Ben Nye lipstick.

       Here is a preview of some of the new lip products that will be coming soon! I love them all! So pretty and the formula is really nice. Not too thick or sticky!

Moi Minerals - Get The Look

Here is what you will need to achieve this look. 
1. Yellow eyeshadow or pigment. I used Goldenrod by Moi Minerals
2. Bright green/chartreuse eyeshadow or pigment. I used Snap by Moi Minerals
3. Aqua or Teal eyeshadow or pigment. I used Aqua Nights by Moi Minerals
4. Pink eyeshadow or pigment. I used Hi Five by Moi Minerals
5. Primer and base to make the eyeshadow last and pop. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance and NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk.
6. Eyeshadow Brush and a Fluffy Brush for blending. I use the $1 e.l.f brushes and either the M.A.c #222 brush or the Studio Tools Crease Brush from Target.
7. Black liquid eyeliner ( optional)

1. Start off by priming your eye and adding your base in the desired shape of your finished look.

2. Take Goldenrod ( yellow) and apply it just to your eyelid in the area shown above using your eyeshadow brush

3. Take Snap ( green) and apply it just above Goldenrod slightly overlapping right up to your crease.

4.Take Aqua Nights ( teal or aqua) and apply it into the crease slightly overlapping Snap.

5.Grab your fluffy blending brush and get Goldrenrod and reapply it to the same area slightly overlapping into Snap again to blend the two colors together.

6. Using the same fluffy brush apply Snap to the same area again slightly overlapping into Aqua Nights.

 7. Get a very light amount of Aqua Nights and apply to the same area and lightly apply and blend.

8. Grab Hi Five (pink) and put a very small amount on your fluffy brush and of apply to the top edge of Aqua Nights and heavily blend by going over with your fluffy brush. It should fade from a purple toned color to a very light pink of blended enough.

        Your finished eye should look something like this! Add liquid liner ( if desired), I used Jordana Fabuliner eyeliner marker and mascara.  I hope this simple tutorial helped!! If you try this look out please send me a finished pic or link me to it! I would love to see!!!

Soft look using Moi Minerals

                  I have fallen in love hard with dark smokey eyes. In fact I feel weird now when I do not have a smoked out look on. I decided to cure that with some Moi Minerals! I wanted something light, soft and shimmery. I decided to go with Angel Eyes, Panic and Spank Me.

            I still felt naked without the darker color on my eyes but this was the perfect look for the day. We walked to the park and spent all day outside so I suppose it is better I did not look like a hooker =0)  I used Moi Minerals blush in Brooke on my cheeks and my lips and just balm.

"Smoked Out" eyes!

           So once upon a time not so long ago I thought I was pretty damn awesome at applying makeup. Fast forward a year and a half and I realize I was far from awesome. I still had a lot to learn....still do but I am learning and growing everyday! Something I notice on a lot of people is that they do not blend or "smoke out" the top edge of their eyeshadow. Check the picture below out. That was me before. I never blended out the top edge of my eyeshadow. It just never occurred to me to do it. If you prefer your edge harsh like that than by all means, keep it up. Makeup is art and art is interpretation. I am sure I do a lot of things with my makeup that other people wouldn't so this isn't a tutorial on how to do makeup but more of how I like to do mine!

Before - I really like my color combo but the whole look could use some blending.

                    In my opinion you only need three things to get a perfect "smoked out" eye. A fluffy brush

 (Shown are MAC #222, Fluffy brush from My Glam and Studio Tools crease brush) , flesh colored eye shadow to match your skin tone ( i prefer a shimmer finish over a matte finish) and your fingers! Yes, I said your fingers. I use mine to blend out the top edge almost every time I do my makeup.

         

                 Here is my eye with my eyeshadow all applied and I am ready to blend out the top edge. I apply my eyeshadow with a small eyeshadow brush first and then comes in the fluffy brush.

                
                 Next I take a small amount of pigment or eyeshadow and dip my brush in. Tap off the excess. You are looking for a very light amount of shadow or pigment on your brush. You want it almost airbrush the top edge, not apply another layer of color. Go over the top edge of the eyeshadow until it is nice and blended.

         

The picture came out blurry but you want your top edge to be similar to this.

           
Then if the edge is not "smoked out" enough for me I use the most awesome cheapest tool ever. My fingers! Usually I use my middle or pinkie finger and depending on how much needs to be blended I rub hard or very lightly. I find that the finger blends out the top edge far better than fluffy brushes so if you do not have a fluffy brush, try your fingers!!

 

               My last tip is to use a shadow or pigment that matches your skin tone. This really blends the top edge of the shadow into your skin and gives a perfect smokey look. I use Skimp by Urban Decay. I like using a shadow with a shimmer to it. I think it blends the edge better without muting the color of the entire look too much. I apply from the top of the eyeshadow all the way up to my eyebrows. This also brightens the area under your eyebrow.

      That is it! Below is how the finished eye looks after using all 3 techniques!

Rainbow Eyes

           I have been a bit bored with my makeup lately. A rut if you will. So I decided to go nuts and do a bold rainbow eye. I primed with Too Faced Shadow Insurance and then used NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk as a base. I started from the top and worked my way down. Red is Sugarpill Love+ with a little Rockstar Red by Moi Minerals to tone it down a bit. Orange is BFTE Melon, Yellow is BFTE Lemon, Green is Monster Mash by Moi Minerals , Blue is Ocean Queen by Moi Minerals and the Purple is Venus by Moi Minerals. My liner is Jordana Fabuliner and my mascara is Full N Soft by Maybelline.

Get The Look - Moi Minerals

                   I just got my model package from Moi Minerals. Inside was "Snap", a most awesome green. I had to use it right away. The look came out cool so I decided I must do a "Get The Look" for it!

Here is what you will need to achieve this look.

Bright green pigment or eye shadow. ( I used Snap by Moi Minerals)

Dark Purple pigment or eyeshadow. ( I used Pluto by Moi Minerals)

Dark or Hot Pink pigment or eyeshadow ( I used Pink Stelletios by Moi Minerals)

Primer and Base.

Eyeshadow brush and a fluffy blending brush. ( I used elf $1 eyeshadow brush and MAC #222)

Small eyeliner brush.

Optional - Green and Purple eyeliner

1. Start off by priming your eye and adding your base in the desired shape of your finished look. I used UDPP and NYX jumbo pencil in Milk.

2. Take Snap ( green) and apply it just to your eyelid, right to the crease with your eyeshadow brush.

3. Take Pluto ( purple) and apply it into your crease and a little bit above the crease.

4. Grab your fluffy blending brush and get a little bit of Snap (green) and go over your lid and up into the crease slightly to blend the line between the green and purple.

5. Do the same thing with Pluto ( purple) until your green and purple are blended to your liking. 

6. Using your fluffy blending brush grab Pink Stelletios ( dark or hot pink) and lightly apply it right to the top edge of Pluto ( purple). Blend this heavily.

7. Apply Snap ( green) to the lower eyelid from the inner to the middle of the eye. I applied over a base of green eyeliner but you could skip this and just apply yours wet by lightly dampening your brush.

8. Apply Pluto to the lower eye from the middle to the outer edge. Slightly overlap into Snap to blend the two together. 

9.  Lastly apply Pink Stelletios over Pluto so that it mimics the top edge of your upper eye.

        Your finished eye should look something like this! Add liquid liner ( if desired), I used Jordana Fabuliner eyeliner marker and mascara.

EOTD: My Beauty Addiction, Antoinette's Revolution and Moi Minerals

             For this look I used Blossom by My Beauty Addiction on the lid, Pink Stilletios by Moi Minerals in the crease and Duchesse by Antoinette's Revolution Cosmetics just under the brow bone. My liner is Jordana Fabuliner and my mascara is Stila Major Lash.

Get The Look - Rainbow Eye using Moi Minerals

      I have been experimenting with rainbow eyelooks for a few weeks now. I wanted to find something that actually looked pretty instead of looking crazy and clownish. I think this look is exactly what I was looking for so I wanted to share it with you all and do a little tutorial on how I acheived it.

What you need:
Small Eyeshadow Brush
Fluffy Blending Brush
Rainbow Color pigments or eye shadows.
Primer and Base ( Urban Decay Primer Potion or elf eyelid primer and NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk.
I used colors from Moi Minerals. Rockstar Red, Sailors Delight, Goldenrod, Monster Mash, Bellflower and Panic.

            First apply your primer and your base. Next using your small shadow brush apply the colors as show in my segmented eye below. Start with red, then orange, next yellow ,followed by green, blue and last purple. Slightly overlap the colors to make blending easier in the next step. Next grab your fluffy brush ( I used MAC #222) and reapply all of the colors slightly overlapping again. Make sure to lightly move your brush across any harsh lines between the colors to blend them. Lastly your fluffy brush to heavily blend the top edge of the purple until you are satisfied. You can add any liner and mascara at this point.

Your finished product should look something like this!

Moi Minerals EOTD

             I did a soft, simple pretty look using Moi Minerals. I wanted to use light pinks and purple. I am pretty happy with how it came out. My camera does not love taking pictures of lighter makeup though. =0(  Any tips
on capturing lighter more natural looks??  I used Shimmer and Pearls in the tear duct area and below the eyebrow. I also used Angel Eyes in the tear duct area and blended it inwards. Pink Stelletios on the lid followed by Groovy in the crease blended up. I thought this look needed something smoky so I added some Pluto to the crease. My eyeliner is Jordana Fabuliner and my mascara is by Stila.

               Foundation is Maybelline Dream Mousse Matte in Nude #2 . My blush is Score by Urban Decay and my lips are Tart LipSurgence in Adored.
