Sugarpill Edward Scissorhands Palette

If you have been reading this blog since it's creation you know that I ABSOLUTELY adore Sugarpill's pressed shadows. I own every one and when they announced that a new palette was coming out I knew I had to get it no matter what. There was little to no hype or news about this palette coming out, they announced it and within a week or so it was released. I found that to be bad and good. Bad for the people who live on tight budgets (me) because they usually have to plan for makeup splurges. Good because I feel like less people had time to find out about this palette and it did not sell out within minutes so it was easy to be able to purchase. I had to get creative financially to be able to order this palette because I already was planning on dropping $$ for the Lorac Megapro only around a week later.

It was available on Monday the 28th of September. I was ready, logged in and bought mine within a minute of it becoming available. After knowing I bought mine I was able to relax. The palette did not end up selling out for almost two days after it released which was either because it lacked interest or they stocked enough. Either way I am sure that all the customers who were excited for this were happy because there was ample time for everyone to snag their palette! I have read on Instagram that Sugarpill will be restocking this palette again ( only once I believe).
I live in California so I got my palette within a week which was awesome! Packaging is adorable! Sugarpill never disappoints with their cute palettes. The shadows were bigger than I expected from the product pictures online which was great.
I swatched these shadows over NYX jumbo pencil in milk.  Heart Shaped Cookie without a base is my EXACT skin tone color so it blends in and is invisible on me. That sounds like a bad thing but actually it is nice for blending out shadows. Ice Angel is the best out of this palette. It is very shimmery and duo chrome like. It looks amazing in the tear duct area or applied over other shadows to give them a shimmery finish. Suburbia was one of the shadows I was most excited about but overall it did not perform how I envisioned. I thought it would be a beautiful color to use to smoke out a dark eye and give it that "grungy" look. I tried doing that in the look below but without having much base or packing the color on it tended to just blend away into nothing. I am going to try using it packed on as a lid color to see how if it performs that way. Home Sweet Home is the second best in this palette in my opinion. It is a beautiful pastel blue. Very opaque and easy to work with. Castle on the Hill was super pretty and exciting to me but it ended up being similar to Suburbia with the color blending away. I tried really packing it into the crease but every time I tried blending it would disappear. The Inventor is great color. I feel that the finish (frosted sheen) makes it easier to work with.
Overall I can say I am disappointed in this palette. While the shades in this palette are gorgeous I found that certain ones were too dusty and did not adhere well or were not really able to be blended. The look below I really had to pack on and keep adding more color and not blend very much. It was a pretty look when I was finished but it was hard to achieve. I also did a smoky eye just using Castle on the Hill and it did perform somewhat better over a thicker base of NYX Jumbo pencil but I still had similar issues blending it out. I know that this palette is described as a neutral which obviously the colors are going to be different than Sugarpill's usual bold and bright colors but it is the formula, finish and texture that I feel are way below in standards compared to the other pressed shadows in Sugarpill's line.
Am I upset about this purchase? Nope. If I did not end up buying this palette I would have regretted it forever. The what ifs would have driven me insane. I will probably use a few of the shadows in this palette and if after a couple months I end up not using it enough I have daughters who are slowly getting into makeup and because the colors are so muted this would probably be good for them.

My town had our big fair last week and I went cray cray at this little hair accessory booth. Everything was so cheap. I picked up this little hat for only $3!! Too cute!! I am in love with it!! Also you can see I did something new with my hair. I am regretting adding the pink. It is a huge pain in the ass to keep up. Before I only had to bleach my roots every three months and touch up the teal on the roots every 3 weeks or so but not the pink fades from the roots within a week. I am over it. I am going to cover it up with purple until I bleach again and then go back to all teal.

After I did my makeup I decided to depot my Sparkle Baby. I felt wrong taking them out of the cute, clean white pots but they had to come live with all the other Sugarpill. I like my eyeshadows to be organized by brand and for them all to be in one place. When they are scattered and in singles it is harder for me to come up with looks and I tend to forget about them.

This is awesomeness right here. Pure awesomeness.
All of the pressed shadows by Sugarpill!

I used a cheap magnetic blush palette with the divider removed. After I depotted I decided to paint the top of the palette with some glittery nail polish to jazz it up. I LOVE Pinata Yada Yada by Ulta. It is my most glittery nail polish so I used it to make this palette sparkle-riffic!

Sugarpill Sparkle Baby

This collection of pressed shadows is the reason I went to PHAMExpo. Sugarpill announced they were going to be premiering these at PHAME and I about died. I wanted to go to PHAME originally but couldn't really justify buying tickets and spending money on makeup. That was until Sugarpill said Sparkle Baby was going to be available. Then I went into psycho mode. I whined to my husband about how I was going to miss getting these and have to wait. To my surprise he said that we should go to PHAME. Woooooooooot, for awesome husbands!! Fast forward to the day of PHAME. We got in and went RIGHT to the Sugarpill booth. I was a bit sad these were not in a palette but actually it works out better since I depotted all of my Sugarpill and now they live together in a big magnetic palette.

That back of the boxes are SO CUTE! >:D

Each pressed shadow was $12. I got all four of course. I am really loving the white packaging. It looks so clean and fresh.

Each shade swatched nicely. They have a great texture and applied opaque. These definitely have the same quality as the other pressed Sugarpill shadows. I am so excited about these because they are lighter shades which will work awesome with the darker shades from the Heart collection.

I will be posting an look using these tomorrow so make sure you come back. Also make sure you enter my current giveaway to win a limited edition Chromalust by Sugarpill!

Sugarpill Asteria Chromalust

As you know, I picked up the Limited Edition Chromalust, Asteria by Sugarpill at the PHAMExpo last weekend. After a really busy week I finally got time to swatch and play with my new goodies! I paid $12 for this beauty and it was worth every penny!

Sugarpill describes Asteria as, " a brilliant, metallic golden coral eyeshadow.  Sugarpill has also said that Asteria is SUPER limited edition with only 1,000 made. I bought an extra one and am having a giveaway! Make sure you enter!

UPDATE!
From the Sugarpill facebook page!!
For everyone who's been asking, YES, we did reserve half (500 pieces) to offer online to those who weren...'t able to make it to the convention. We'll be sure to give you advance notice when they are posted... probably next week, as we are still recovering from PHAMExpo!

I found Asteria to be a gorgeous bright coppery coral. Patted on it was super sparkle-riffic and blended  it became a smooth metallic copper. I actually have been wearing a lot of makeup in this shade of coral/orange/pink lately but was missing a shade that packed the intensity of the metallic and sparkle. I am so glad I picked this up! I debated because I thought it may be too metallic for me. I am finding that things with a lot of sparkle or metallic finishes make my eyes look older. Booooooooooo!! Asteria however applied lovely with minimal fall out and went on super opaque.

I used Sugarpill Asteria and Ben Nye Essential Palette on my eyes, eyebrows are Anastasia Beverly Hills Hypercolor in Teal Tornado, cheeks are MAC Sunbasque, Cream Soda and Springsheen and lips are Lip Fusion In The Flesh.

PHAMExpo!

My husband and I went to the first PHAMExpo last Saturday! It was a blast and I was so happy to have him with me, he is totally my best friend so it was so much fun to show him the world of makeup that I am so immersed in! We both has VIP passes that had my blog name on it. So cool!!

The PHAMExpo was really nice. It was held at the Pasadena Convention Center ( same place as IMATS LA). They carpeted the whole auditorium. Weird to mention but it was a HUGE area. The whole expo had a luxurious lush feel to it. I have had a lot of people ask me questions about how PHAME compared to IMATS. First off, all of the same big vendors were there, as well as alot of the same small ones. There were less small vendors at PHAME compared to IMATS though. The crowd was smaller of course but the lines at some of the booths were much longer than at IMATS. They had three stages where people spoke and did demos. PHAME did not have all the FX type booths like IMATS or the smaller classes but I imagine as PHAME grows things like that will be added. For a new expo PHAME certainly rocked!

After we got in, we went straight to the Sugarpill booth. VIP hours started at 8:30 AM and we arrived around 9:30. The Lime Crime and Sugarpill lines were CRAZY long. I didn't care though, I was just excited to get my hands on some Sparkle Baby! While standing in line the adorable Elessa Jade of Purse Buzz walked by so I snagged a pic with her!

The Sugarpill booth was awesome as usual and the girls (and Drew) behind the counter looked so cute and colorful. I will admit that once we got up to the counter my fangirling started and I pretty much could not turn it off for the whole day. I was dorkGALORE! When I seen Drew I almost squealed. I first met him at IMATS in January and feel in love with his personality. He is a SWEETHEART! So yeah, I was excited to see him again. Even my husband loved him!! Hahahah!

Elektro Cute are the new Chromalusts from Sugarpill. I did not pick any of these up because they are just too bright and glittery for my old face. They are GORGEOUS in person though and will be available soon I hear!

SPARKLE BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course I bought all four of these new colors. I will have a post up soon! I also bought the limited edition Chromalust and an extra one I will be giving away within the week! Overall I spent the most at the Sugarpill booth. I got 5 Sparkle Baby's , 3 Asteria's and a Burning Heart Palette for my niece.

DREW!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, you have no idea how freaking happy I was in this moment. I walked up for the picture practically freaking out. If you follow Shrinkle on Instagram you know her love for Porcelain. I joked that I wanted to be in the middle of them for the pictures, we laughed and then it happened. Shrinkle said, "Hey you are Confessions of a Glitterholic right"? I almost died! So yeah that is why I look like I am about to burst from happiness here!!!

I finally got Drew not working! He is totally slouching because he was a good 2 feet taller than me LOL

After the Sugarpill booth we headed over to Lime Crime. I wanted to get Babette and a couple of the palettes I missed at IMATS.

We rested our feet and watched Doe Deere speak. She touched on a lot of different topics. It was fun to listen and learn more about her personality and how she started Lime Crime.

Cassie Wanda checked me out last year at IMATS and I started following her on Instagram afterwards. Come to find out she is a princess! Really! She sews the most AMAZING Disney princess themed gowns as well as dresses. She also dresses up as princesses! So cute! She made the lip dress that Doe Deere is wearing in the pictures above! Go check her out on Instagram!

After the two booths and watching Doe speak we were hungry so we braved the 100 degree heat and walked to lunch. We decided on The Yardhouse because we both wanted some drinks. The restaurant was PACKED so we ended up on the patio. It was humid as heck but after a couple pomegranate margaritas I was fine! LOL

Then I remembered Babette was in my shopping bag!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It was all beady and the tip was melting a bit. I immediately went into MAKEUP PROTECTOR mode and got a glass of ice for Babette to lounge in while we ate. I will admit that I bought a bag of ice for the drive home for her too.

Sadly I did not take a good picture of my makeup for the day. The brows are Anastasia Beverly Hills Teal Tornado of course, the eyeshadow is all Sugarpill Heart Palettes and the glitter is Glamour Doll Eyes applied with Eye Kandy glitter adhesive. The lashes are Katy Perry again. Same ones still, these lashes hold up GREAT wear after wear. I have to also bring up how awesome Claudia ( I believe she is Anastasia's daughter, because they look so much alike I thought she was Anastasia!) from the Anastasia Beverly Hills booth was. I was going to buy a new Covet pencil in Noir because my last one twisted up into the lid by itself right after I got it. I asked her if there was a tip to avoid that from happening again and she gave me a new Covet in Noir for free. How awesome of customer service is that!!!

The students from various makeup academies did amazing makeup on models who were walking around the expo.

When we came back from lunch I noticed a colorful person out of the corner of my eye, IT WAS JEFFREE STAR!! I ran over and got a quick pic with him. He was super nice and really pretty in person. I always wondered if he used a lot of photoshop in his pics because he always looks perfect but I can say he looks perfect in real life too.

Later that night I noticed a pic he posted in Instagram and thought his lips were Babette so I posted Babette? and he responded to me. WOOOOOOT!

I also ran across the amazing Durga and the Queen of Blending!

Resting my feet and posting on Instagram LOL

I went somewhat crazy at the Morphe Brushes booth. They had an insane amount of different style brushes for very affordable prices. I picked up a few things and went to check out. I gave my blogger information sheet and the owner gave me my whole basket for free. Awesome and so sweet!!

 My haul <3

Overall I had an AMAZING time. I love makeup and I love the whole makeup "world" Just like with IMATS I really feel at home at these shows. Being surrounded by makeup and all the other people who love it just as much is undescribale. I can't wait for the PHAMExpo next year!!

Huge thanks to the PHAMExpo for the VIP passes, to Morphe Brushes and Anastasia Beverly Hills for the free things, to all my makeup and beauty idols for taking time to take pics with me and to my awesome husband for coming with me and making it one of the best days ever!!!

I will be blogging swatches and reviews during the whole next month!
