8 Bit Cosmetics - Everyone's A Hero

The lovely Nicole from 8 Bit Cosmetics recently sent some samples of her newest collection, Everyone's A Hero, for the gift bags and a few for me to test out. I chose four that stood out to me. Truthfully I wanted to keep the whole collection. I am going to order the ones I am missing soon. I am in LOVE with this collection. I have not been this excited about a loose pigment collection in some time!!

I chose The Cat, which is a dark matte purple, Apocalyptic, which is described as teal which shimmer, All American Hero which is described as a true royal blue and Protege, which is described as red with a berry tint. I really like the formula of the matte shades. Above are sample baggies which I potted into my own 3 gram jars. Samples are only $1 and as you can see, you get a lot of product!!

Here is a look I did using The Cat and Protege
Here is a look I did last week using Will, Apocalyptic, All American Hero and The Cat

I have tried quite a few different colors from 8 Bit Cosmetics and so far I have been HIGHLY impressed. The colors are gorgeous and the textures have been very easy to work with. All the pigments I have tried have been opaque and very vivid. If you are looking to add some bold color to your collection than check 8 Bit Cosmetics out! Pricing range from $1 samples to $4 jars.  You can see some of my other 8 Bit swatches here and here

Have you tried 8 Bit Cosmetics? If so, what pigments do you have and what are your favorites?

Halloween

I spent so much time working on my kid's costumes and I never got around to putting thought into my own until the night before Halloween. I had bought a huge pair of gorgeous red and black wings from Joann last month so I knew I wanted my costume centered around them. I planned to do sort of a dark fairy. On the day of Halloween I opened the wings only to find out that they were cheap pieces of crap. They were super heavy so the elastic straps stretched making then hang weird and then they were only held together by a tiny piece of felt that started ripping when i tried them on. I was pretty pissed off. In the end I just wore a black and purple cape and called it a day. Because I was in a bad mood I feel like my makeup came out bad. Looking back at the pictures I see it looked good but it just was not what I envisioned.
I used my normal foundation with some white powder on top of it to give me a paler look. On my eyes I used Sugarpill Love + and Sugarpill Bulletproof. I did the feathery lines using a cheap NYC liquid liner. My eyelashes are Klean Color. I used Bling Spirit Natural Control glitter adhesive, Bling Spirit glitter in Black Diamond and 8 Bit Cosmetics Glitter in Container for Hearts for the feathery accent lines. I also used Container for Hearts on my eyebrows.

After I got home I washed that makeup off and decided to just do something quick and over the top. I personally would love to wear crazy loud makeup like this everyday. This is also the only picture of my husbands makeup I got of the day! In this pic I used Bling Spirit Natural Control and Bling Spirit Platinum Sparkles on my eyes. My lashes are Klean Color Catty Maria. I used Pretty Addictions Wild Thang for blush and my lips are Ben Nye Pink Tart. My husband is wearing all Halloween cream makeup.

I did minor makeup on all my kids and failed to take pictures of course. I did snap this one of the mermaid makeup I did on my middle daughter. I used Pretty Addictions Shipwrecked in Paradise collection as well as Shattered Pearls. I also used some lash glue and applied some jewels to her cheeks and her eyebrows are Bling Spirit in Pacific Blue.

Next year we are are all forgoing the glam and going for guts and gore. We are going to be a family of disgusting zombies. I am going to RAID the Ben Nye section here!!

If you have links to your Halloween look comment below so I can check it out!!

8 Bit Cosmetics - Ooo Shiny Collection

I am a bit late on posting this but last month I opened my mailbox to find an awesome surprise! A glitter filled package from 8 Bit Cosmetics! It was an 12 pots of glittery goodness also known as the, Ooo Shiny Collection!

This collection is made up of 12 glitter blends (.004 cosmetic grade glitter).

I really love some of these glitter blends. To see out the full collection or to purchase check out 8 Bit on etsy. Full size pots are $4.00 and sample size is only $1.00!! Below are some of my favorite blends from this collection.

Smashing Pots
green/gold glitter blend

Starlight
 black/silver/multicolor glitter blend

Poison Sting
purple/green glitter blend

Summons
red/orange/gold glitter blend

My absolute favorite blend in this collection is Starlight! It is gorgeous and exactly what I have been looking for. I wanted a black/holo glitter to use over black shadow for like the last year! All of these glitter blends are gorgeous and complex. Fairy Dust has been renamed to Bottled Fairies so keep that in mind if you are looking for it in the shop.

Overall I really liked these blends. Most of them are unique and not like any other glitter blends in my collection. Pricing is good especially for samples. I really like 8 Bit cosmetics and am excited to see the company grow! Have you tried 8 Bit Cosmetics? If so what did you think? What do you think about these glitter blends?

8 Bit Cosmetics, Review, Swatches and Giveaway

I recently got a nice big package filled with goodies from 8 Bit Cosmetics. This package was sent for free for review purposes. I had never heard of 8 Bit Cosmetics but the pigments they offered looked really pretty and I love to review new companies so I was quite excited when I received my package. Everything was packaged well, sealed with sifter seals and labeled.

I asked the owner and formulator, Nicole, to share some information about the company with me and here is what she said.
I guess my passion for make up started about 5 years ago though it was only 3 years ago that I finally hit pause on the millionth youtube make up tutorial i had watched and decided to go out buy some make up and try it myself. My first few looks were nothing to be proud of but in time i like to think that i got better. Over the past few years i entertained thoughts of a beauty related career. Despite my love for make up no careers i could think of drew me in to the point where i was willing to put the effort into being successful while also working full time. That changed when i started making my own eye shadows. What started out as a fun project (also inspired by some diy youtube tutorials) turned into something that i could see myself doing for a living.
The name 8 Bit Cosmetics came from my passion for make up and the old school gamer nerd in me. I'm a huge fan of anime, comics, older video games and just about all other things nerdy. I really wanted that to be seen in my eye shadows through the use of bright fun colors and nerdy names. When naming these collections i was inspired by the Green Lantern comic books. In the comics there are 7 different Corps each represented by a color of the rainbow and fueled by an emotion that corresponds with that color. For example Hal Jordan was a green lantern and his power was fueled by his will. The Core Collection was meant to represent each individual corps. The Darkest Night collection was also inspired by a Green Lantern comic. In the comic many superheroes were taken over by a black ring that turned them evil. Originally i was going to be a bit more literal by making each color a variation of black only changing in undertone or color of shimmer but i decided that a darker shade of each color would be a better option.

The Core: Hope, Violet, Indigo, Will,
Fear, Rage, Avarice
Darkest Night: Hope, Love, Rage, Avarice
Fear, Will, Compassion

These pigments came with a sifter seal and were JAM packed with pigment. I removed the sifters so you could see the product better and because I hate sifters . 8 Bit offers 5 gram jars filled to the with brim with 2 grams of pigment for $4. She also offers the option of no sifter. NICE!! Samples are also available for $1 and each sample comes with 0.5 grams of product in a 2"x2" zip lock bag. Currently 8 Bit has 14 different pigments to chose from but plans on having more colors released soon.

When swatching these I immediately fell into love with Hope, Violet and Indigo. My goodness are these ever my colors...right??? I also really liked Fear from the Darkest Night collection. It is a really pretty orange/yellow. All the pigments swatched nice and smooth. I was impressed thus far.

Pigments in the sunlight

I used Fear, Will, Hope and Indigo for this look. These pigments applied wonderfully. They blended smoothly and stayed opaque. I really really like these pigments. I am very impressed with the colors and formula. Nicole hand blends each color herself and I must say that Fear and Indigo are my favorites at the moment but really all of them are so pretty.

My overall opinion of 8 Bit is a good one. The pigments are great, the 5 gram jars are only $4 and are jam packed. They offer a limited color range at the moment BUT the colors they currently offer are very pretty. Nicole shipped my package very quickly and all the products were labeled professionally and packed very well. I will definitely order from 8 Bit in the future when the new colors are released.
