Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter

Revlon Lip Butters have been the talk of the beauty world for a couple months now.  I like to wait until the hype dies down a bit before I try a product. I am kidding, I was just too cheap to buy one of these until now. I have no problem spending on a good quality product but $6.50 for a drug store glorified lip balm seemed like a bit much to me. I found these on sale at Walgreens. I bought one for me and one for a friend. In the end I spent around $3.50 each. Not too bad.
             The Revlon website says ,
  Buttery Balm + Shiny Color
- Buttery balm with beautiful shiny color to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips 94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother, and instantly hydrated.

Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%
- Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth
- Sheer to medium colour with buttery shine
- Available in 20 luscious shades

I am a huge lover of a nude lip so I went with Creamsicle. The formula is very nice and smooth. It does make your lips feel really soft BUT it wears off FAST. I brought it with me to Disneyland and I was applying it at least every half hour. It just soaked into my lips and was GONE. I twisted it up too far and it broke while in the line for Pirates of the Caribbean. Whoops!!It also did not apply very evenly in color on my lips. It is a bit streaky. I do like the color though.

My overall thoughts are that this colored lip balm is not worth the $6.50 price tag. I would stick with chapstick and save my $6.50 for a few weeks and buy a MAC lipstick or a Tarte LipSurgence. The $3.50 I paid for this seems fair enough though. I have seen some lip swatches of the other shades and they looked gorgeous. I am sad this lippie did not live up to the hype.  Have you tried this product?? If so, what did you think?

  1. I think some of the shades are better than others. Lollipop is really nice. You might like Creme Brulee.

  2. Hmmmm, yeah this one looks a little like. I've been wearing Creme Brulee a lot and the Fig one (it's brown).

  3. I bought Cherry Tart, not realizing that it was a lip butter (my kids were cranky and my husband wanted to check out). I was just looking for a red lipstick. It's nice, but unless I wear a red liner under it, it just looks pink on my lips =( It is hydrating, but it does NOT last long enough, so I just won't wear it unless I put a red liner under.
