Mon Ennui Cosmetics - Spotlight and Giveaway!!

You may remember Mon Ennui from the "Spreading The Love" gift bags in December. Vivi, the owner very generously donated some great products. Since then I have browsed Mon Ennui numerous times. Everything looked gorgeous but I was on a NO BUY for all of January and most of February. I decided to just place a small order because funds are still a bit tight. I ordered 3 samples and paid  $11.79 with shipping. Samples come in a 5 gram jar and are $3.00 each.

My order arrived within a few days. It was wrapped nicely and secure. The labeling was very clean and informative. Another nice thing is the company name is imprinted in the pot lid ( see below). I was curious was Mon Ennui meant and I found this tidbit on their facebook page.
Mon Ennui: the only cure for your beauty boredom. www.monennui.com

"Mon Ennui" [French] - "My Boredom" [English]
Pronounced - "Mon on-WE"
The word 'ennui' implies more than boredom... but, so much gets lost in translation. Ennui is the heavy weariness you feel once you've 'seen it all' and there is nothing left to excite or thrill you anymore.
Mon Ennui strives to breathe some excitement back into your life, while being kind to your skin and to the enviro
nment.
I asked Vivi to please share a little about herself and Mon Ennui. Here is what she said.

I have a background as a makeup artist and performer as well as in modeling/acting/performing and producing variety/burlesque shows.  I have had severe allergies since my mid-teens (food, animals, medication, pollen), and over time some of my allergies and sensitivities have gotten a bit more intense.  I had to stop wearing makeup all together, for a while, as I tried to figure out which products (I had been using for years) were now causing my eyes two swell shut and my skin to break out in a rash and hives.  That was literally like taking candy away from a baby!  My self-esteem plummeted.  I felt awful about myself.  And, worst of all... it felt like my dream makeup kit (that took me years to build up and is worth thousands of dollars) was now... total garbage.

I started building the company in Spring of 2011, but we didn't go "live" until late Fall.   Our focus is to create the high performance high end cosmetics that I know and love, but without the harsh ingredients that are hard on skin (and that make my skin try to kill me).  We're fully Cruelty Free (We test on me, all the time.  If it works on my eyes, then it will work on anyone's eyes!).

I am actually a co-owner of the company, and the official founder.  My husband works as a buyer for a company that works with a lot of the major makeup brands you've heard of, so we have access to vendors that other smaller companies aren't able to contact.  He actually helps make a lot of choices for Mon Ennui, keeps us organized and also does a lot of work for me on the design and packaging end.

I'd say that my current favorite product that we carry is our luxury mascara!  It's really nice.  It lengthens and thickens each individual lash, without being clumpy or sticky.  It makes each lash glossy, and is full of moisturizers (so it isn't too hard on your lashes with everyday use).  It doesn't flake or wear off at the end of the day.  And, after curling my lashes, it really sets the shape.  The reason I love it is -   I get to WEAR mascara again!  And, it's not just a mild eyelash tint!   I know that might seem like a very very silly thing for anyone to be excited about... but, when you've been living a naked-faced natural lifestyle... and you finally get to have some glamour back in your life... it is THRILLING!  :)

I have to say that I am extremely impressed with these pigments. They went on very opaque and were a breeze to blend. I can't say I have a favorite at this point because I love them all!!!  Mon Ennui offers over 120 different products in their store. Most are different color pigments but they also carry blush, mascara and eyeliner!! They have a lot to offer!! Pricing for the standard size pigments is $10. I checked and I do not see the size but I assume that is for a 10 gram jar. That size jar is good if it is your favorite color you use a lot , are a pro makeup artist or are going to split with a friend or two. I personally prefer sample sizes, not just from this company but from most because it takes me forever to use even the sample size.

I used all 3 pigments in the look below which came out awesome. I was super impressed with how these pigments applied. They are just awesome.

I definitely will be ordering from Mon Ennui again, very soon. I really want to try some of their blush and quite a few of the other pigments. I am very impressed with the product, the shipping speed, the packaging, the product pictures and the owner is very knowledgeable and professional. Pricing seems average. The sample size pigments are definitely a bargain.

  14. Hi Christina, I love Mon Ennui too ... just found her a few weeks ago. A couple of products that I recommend are the color shifting pigments/nanoglitters. My favorite shadows so far are Soft Rain and Siren. Druid is pretty awesome too.
