Mani Monday!

New on the blog! Weekly manicure pics!  My nails are looking better lately, even though my sister wants to come trim my cuticles lol. Anyway, for the first Mani Monday I present "Polka Dots". I used Sally Hansen Pacific Blue with LA Colors Art Deco White. I used the end of a bobby pin to do the dots and then a coat of Ulta X- Dry Top Coat. I am loving this top coat. I am beyond sick of my Seche Vite thickening up after just buying it. So far the Ulta X- Dry Top Coat is staying thin and usable! Yeah!!

China Glaze Pool Party

 I almost screamed of excitement when I seen this GORGEOUS color at Ulta. Right away, I knew I had to have it. I am addicted to neon nails right now and this color looked like a perfect mix of orange and pink neon. Well in the bottle it is. Sad to say the color does not translate to nails. The color ended up not being very neon at all. A pretty color still but not at all what I was looking for. I took quite a few pictures and had trouble even getting the color in the bottle to photograph true to color. I did an image search on google for Pool Party and there were no pictures that showed the awesomeness of this polish color in the bottle. Sadly I am going to return this because in the end it comes out as a plain orange coral color on the nails and I have enough of those types of colors in my polish collection already.

 

China Glaze - Pool Party

I will say I am LOVING the China Glaze polishes in general. They say they have a hardener in them which I definitely need. My nails are pretty weak when they get longer. Which by the way, have you noticed I have not commented on my ugly short nails???? I have been doing my best to  keep them freshly painted which helps me not want to bite them off. Hopefully I can keep it up for awhile!

Nails!

 I probably should not even blog about my nails. They are the nails of a 8 year old boy and I am not that great at nail art. BUT, I bet there are a ton of you out there with short, stubby, messy nails too. So I will continue to share for you. Everyone else, please do not judge =0)

 I got a new bottle of Seche Vite. It really is amazing top coat. First I applied two coats of the orange (Orange Flame by Nina), then I sponged on some purple ( Dream on by Sinful Colors) just on the tips and lastly I lightly dabbed on some glitter ( Frenzy by Sinful Colors). Finished it up with a coat of Seche and Vite!

Nails!

Last week on Instagram Michelle Pham posted a picture of a manicure done with a fan brush. I thought it was really pretty so I decided ti try it. First off, these are not my real nails. If you are a reader here, you knew that right. Heehee. I bought a big pack of glue on nails from Rite Aid. I trimmed them down really short. I like doing this for a few reasons, one is the polish doesn't chip off these nails and also it is easier for me to do designs or nail art on these nails before I glue them on. I also prefer the glue on nails to acrylics because the cost is WAY less. I paid roughly $3 and have enough for 2 sets. Each set will last about 2-3 weeks unless I want to change the color. They are also easy to remove and do not damage your nails.

I used a cheap elf fan brush to achieve this design. First I painted my nails white, then dabbed some black polish on the tips of half of the fan brush and slowly, lightly dragged it across the nail. I did the same with the fushia color and then followed up with a coat of glitter and clear.

Sinful Colors Dream On, Sally Hansen Black Out, Klean Colors White, NYC quick dry top coat and Sally Hansen Strobe Light.

More nails!

 So it appears I am into nails! Normally my manicures are boring. Blue or purple with mulicolored glitter on top - The End. Lately I have been trying new things and trying to let my nails grow some. I find that if my nails are painted I do not bite them and they seem not to peel or get jagged as much. I decided to just slap on a nude polish that I could keep putting more coats on as it chipped during the week. I used an elf nude polish that my niece gave me for Christmas. After applying it something happened. My love for nude lips transferred to my nails. I LOVE THE LOOK OF NUDE COLORED NAILS!!! This is coming from someone who wears dark polish 365 days a year! I was admiring my nails when the idea to sponge some glitter on the tips came to me. I used Sally Hansen Strobe Light. Gahhh, even more in love now. It is so pretty!! My nails and cuticles still need some help!

Do you have any tips for growing stronger nails? My are pretty thin and bendy ( gross I know).

Revlon Girly

I was at Rite Aid on the search for Shocktop Honeycrisp Apple Wheat Beer ( you have to try it, it is AMAZING) when I stumbled across this Revlon polish called Girly. It looked yummy. Yes, yummy. Like food. It reminded me of bubble gum ice cream or something. My nails were freshly painted so I tested the polish on my daughter first! I was hoping for a more opaque polish but it is pretty sheer. I did two quick coats on her nails. It did add a hint of color. I was impressed with how much glitter/flecks I was able to get onto her nails with two coats. I only paid $3.50 for this polish because it was on sale. Overall I really like this.

Nails!

 Here is a rarity for you! A nail post! My nails are in decent shape so I thought I would take a pic of my recent polish job and give my opinions on the Fergie for Wet N Wild star polish. I do not post about nail polish often for numerous reasons. One being my nails are tiny. Not just short, like the whole nail bed is quite small. Another reason is I am not good at doing cool artsy things to my nails. I like a coat of color and a coat of glitter. Bam. Done!

 I used Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in Pacific Blue ( which I found quite thin when I applied). Next I used Wet N Wild Hollywood Walk of Fame by Fergie. I do not have the best luck with polishes like these. Small nails do not work well polishes that have shapes or large flakes in a clear polish. As I figured one swipe on my nail gave me nothing but a thick clear coat. I got a piece of paper and dropped a blob on it and sort of separated the stars and the clear coat. Then I wiped all the excess clear coat off the brush and applied the stars. It was a mess because it was so dry. It rubbed some of my Pacific Blue off in spots. By then I was annoyed so I grabbed Sinful Colors glitter in Frenzy and just slapped it over it all. I ended with a clear coat of Sally Hansen Extreme Wear. It ended up looking cute but was a hassle. The edges on most of the stars are lifting so they snag on everything. I am going to return the Fergie polish because it really doesn't work for me and I am not impressed by it at all.

My Christmas Gifts!

 My husband I decided to not exchange anything expensive this year and just do really small gifts. He surprised me with Coach Poppy. I wasn't expecting it at all. I had smelled it in an Ulta catalog last month and mentioned I liked it. He went in the catalog and pulled out the sample and saved it so he could remember which one to buy! Super cute!! I also got a couple manicure things, Burt's Bees Lemon Butter cuticle cream and some awesome over sized glitter barrettes in my stocking! Thank you Santa!! The elf nail polish set came from my niece . Earlier in the month my husband sent me in to Ulta with $60 and I came out spending only $20 on a mini Benefit face set and a Real Techniques brush. I could not find anything I needed or really wanted! Crazy!!!

 Benefit Besties set - $12

 I am SMITTEN with Some kind-a gorgeous!!! It is described as a "foundation faker". The product description says, This cream-to-powder formula means silky, even perfection for your complexion. So translucent, its THE finish for most skin tones. Its an instant beauty boost any time of day! 

 I totally agree with the product description. The formula itself is very smooth, It reminds me a little bit of  Benefit Porefessional . Just like Porefessional, as you apply this it just melts right into your skin. Normal pricing on a full size is $30 but to me it is totally worth it.

 You can see how light weight and translucent it is below on my finger. I apply it to my entire face using a stippling brush and it gives the perfect amount of coverage. I am finding lately that my face looks older when I use a thicker coverage foundation but with Some kind-a gorgeous it is so light weight  that it doesn't accentuate all the fine lines I have. The one thing I do not love is the scent. It smells gross in my opinion. I can overlook the scent though because it is a really neat product.

Real Techniques Shading Brush

 I love my Real Techniques face brushes so I picked this shading brush up from Ulta for only $5.99. I love how affordable these brushes are. Just like the face brushes, this brush is very soft and nice. It is a great eyeshadow brush. It is a great addition to my brush hoard.

 elf Nail Polish Gift Set

 This set was a gift, probably from Target and I would image it was $5-$7. I have a lot of nail polishes but most of these colors were unique and not in my collection so I was happy. I used the nude color once and really liked it.

 Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

 Santa gave me this cream in my stocking, but I have seen it at Target for $5.99 and also in a gift set with a lip balm for $4.99. I have heard great things about this cream. It smells heavenly. I have used it a few times but have not noticed a difference in my cuticles yet. I have pretty dry hands and my cuticles are a mess usually so hopefully this cream works its magic!

 Also in my stocking were these insanely fabulous over sized barrettes!! You can see how huge they are compared to a MAC lipstick!! I do happen to know these are sold at Target and you can find them in the girl's accessory section in the clothing dept. for around $4.

Sparkle nails!

 I was browsing Rite Aid, eating my cherry chip ice cream minding my own business when a Sinful Colors nail polish called out to me " BUY ME. BUY ME". I personally like Sinful Colors nail polish and I like the price of only $1.99 even more. Most of the colors are great quality and they are always coming out with new colors and collections. I picked up Dream on and Frenzy. Rite Aid had a cash rewards if you bought two Sinful Colors you got a $2 credit on your Rite Aid card so in the end I paid .99 each. Not bad!

 I was getting ready to paint my nails and remembered I needed my top coat so I went into my huge drawer of polish and what did I see on top, a  color that looked almost exactly the same as Dream On.  I swatched The Balm's Hot Ticket polish in A Fushia Too Many next to Dream on. They are pretty close and Dream On is definitely easier on the budget.
