Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

I splurged and used my sponsorship funds to order some high end foundation. For years I have been using Maybelline Dream Mousse Matte and most recently Ulta's version of a mousse foundation. Both worked okay but I have to use a very light hand when applying. If I apply to thickly all of my fine lines seem to stand out. Lines I didn't even know I had would appear. Not good. I started thinking and formed a theory in my head that maybe a liquid foundation that ISN'T matte would work better on an aging face. I figured the liquid would hydrate more instead of just settling into the lines. My theory was correct because when I use the liquid I do not really see as many lines.

Naked Face               Thin layer of Nars Sheer Glow in Mount Blanc
I decided on Nars Sheer Glow for a couple of reasons. I like the whole "sheer" aspect. I hate the look of heavy foundation and I really hate the feel of it. Plus my skin is in decent shape so I do not need anything heavy. I was also intrigued by the "glow". I thought it would be more illuminating and am a bit disappointed that there it isn't really a "glow" to it. It is pretty sheer though. The pictures make it look more full coverage than it actually is. I am pretty impressed at how little I have to use to cover my entire face. I applied it with a Real Techniques Stippling brush.

A little goes a long way which is nice since Sheer Glow is $42 a pop.
I bought this foundation from Apothica, their product listing describes Nars Sheer Glow as a glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, Sheer Glow Foundation improves the skin's brightness and texture.

Here is my face after applying some blush and highlighter
Overall I am happy with this foundation. I was afraid I would dislike it because it was liquid but it melts into the skin without feeling heavy or making my face feel greasy. It has decent staying power. I have worn it quite a few times now for 12+ hours without much fading or it settling into lines. I have a habit of touching my nose a lot so I did notice it rubbed off after awhile. I am pretty pleased to finally have a new, better foundation!

Have you tried Nars Sheer Glow? If so, what did you think? Any other good light coverage foundations you would recommend?

Inglot Freedom Rainbow Palette!

I can't believe it has been over a month since IMATS and I am JUST using this palette. I have had it in my "to be blogged" drawer so I kept forgetting about it.   Anyhow, before IMATS I visited the INGLOT website and planned out my order. I did this about 10 different times. I started wanting to get a big palette but each time I did the math I started getting buyers remorse and I hadn't even bought the palette yet!! I eventually scaled down to a 5 pan rainbow palette. I wrote down the numbers and brought them with me to IMATS for easy ordering. After spending $250 in a matter of minutes at IMATS I decided not to get the palette. Well, then a second wave of spending hit and I decided to just get it. You only live once right. I paid $30 or $35 for this palette. I can't remember now.

The rainbow pans are new to me but I have tried INGLOT shadows before. I ended up selling my previous INGLOT palette because I just never used it. I liked each color individually but just forgot about it because I picked such random colors that they couldn't really be used together in a look. The rainbow pans are all matte which is my fave lately. I love the color range the rainbow pan gives. Each shade variation is unique which you can see in the swatches below.

My swatches are not the greatest. You can google and find a ton of swatches of these INGLOT shadows.
The top row is over NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk and the bottom row is over bare skin. You can see that these shadows performed almost the same with or without a base which is awesome.

I used the darkest yellow, the darkest orange, the medium green, the darkest blue and the medium purple for this look.
Overall I like this palette. I really like INGLOT shadows. The texture is really soft and buttery and they blend really well. These colors are similar to other colors I already have in my collection so the chances that I use this palette often are pretty slim. I am glad that I got it because it is so pretty to look at. Maybe I should figure out a way to display it? LOL. My next INGLOT purchase will be for some unique colors as well and some neutrals.

Have you tried the Rainbow shadows from INGLOT? The matte or the sparkle? What did you think?

Lime Crime Aquataenia Swatches

I have posted a couple of looks using my new Lime Crime Aquataenia palette already which you can see here and here but forgot to post my swatches and review! I got this palette at IMATS and paid $20.
It has the same quality as the China Doll palette I bought. The shadows are soft, opaque and blend easily. This palette is quite pastel which is a nice addition to my makeup stash. I tend to buy, buy again and buy even more dark, bold matte shadows so this is a refreshing addition for sure.

I LOVE the names of these shadows. They are so cute and clever! Seahorse Discourse, LOL!! My favorite out of the bunch is Coral of the Story. I also really like Pearl-ple.

I am super glad I bought this palette at IMATS and of course still kicking myself for not getting the other two palettes as well. GRRRRR!!

Nails!

Here is a rarity for you! A nail post! My nails are in decent shape so I thought I would take a pic of my recent polish job and give my opinions on the Fergie for Wet N Wild star polish. I do not post about nail polish often for numerous reasons. One being my nails are tiny. Not just short, like the whole nail bed is quite small. Another reason is I am not good at doing cool artsy things to my nails. I like a coat of color and a coat of glitter. Bam. Done!
I used Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in Pacific Blue ( which I found quite thin when I applied). Next I used Wet N Wild Hollywood Walk of Fame by Fergie. I do not have the best luck with polishes like these. Small nails do not work well polishes that have shapes or large flakes in a clear polish. As I figured one swipe on my nail gave me nothing but a thick clear coat. I got a piece of paper and dropped a blob on it and sort of separated the stars and the clear coat. Then I wiped all the excess clear coat off the brush and applied the stars. It was a mess because it was so dry. It rubbed some of my Pacific Blue off in spots. By then I was annoyed so I grabbed Sinful Colors glitter in Frenzy and just slapped it over it all. I ended with a clear coat of Sally Hansen Extreme Wear. It ended up looking cute but was a hassle. The edges on most of the stars are lifting so they snag on everything. I am going to return the Fergie polish because it really doesn't work for me and I am not impressed by it at all.
Have you tried this polish? Does it work better on larger, longer nails? What did you think of Hollywood Walk of Fame?

Sauce Box Eye Shadow in Eye Love

I still have makeup from IMATS that I have not even touched yet. This is crazy. It has been a month!! I have not been wearing much makeup during the week and now am addicted to watching Pretty Little Liars on Netflix. That combined with my everyday chores and schooling the kids leaves me with no time or motivation for makeup. BOOOOOOO!! We were going to the Alpaca show early the other day
( Yes, I said Alpaca show lol) so I decided to throw on one shade and went for my new Sauce Box eye shadow!

I ended up picking up only one eye shadow from Sauce Box. I paid $5 which was a steal. By the time Steph and I hit the Sauce Box booth I had already spent WELL over my budget. Sauce Box did have some eye catching colors that would have been unique additions to my stash/hoard.
Regular price for these eye shadows are $8. It looks like they have 18 single colors to choose from on the website. They also have some really pretty color combinations available in palettes. They do appear to be out of stock of a bunch of colors though. I have to say, the name Sauce Box just gets me. I can't get the image of spaghetti sauce and well, you know.... out of my mind.

I love myself a matte shadow. The website calls this shade pink, my husband called it red and to me it seemed more of a coral color. It applied really nicely, opaque, and the edges blended out well. I have only used it by itself so I can not say how well it plays with others quite yet.

Overall I really like this shadow. I wish I would have picked up a few more colors at IMATS. I think the pricing of $8 per shadow is fair. The shadows are pretty big. I can't find the sizing on the Sauce Box website but they are the same size as Sugarpill shadows. When I am finally done blogging all the IMATS and other things I will probably be making an order for a few more single shadows.

Have you tried Sauce Box? If so, what do you think? What are your favorite shadows from Sauce Box?

That Crazy Lady is back

My makeup has been all kinds of cray lately so even when I take pics I have not been posting them. But I figured you all could get a chuckle out some of the glitter, lashes and bad pics! Enjoy!

Trying to be all sexy...FAIL LOL
I used Sugarpill Tako, Dollipop, Love+ and Poison Plum. I also used some red Bling Spirit glitter and Klean Color lashes.

Sick of trying to get a good pic so I just made a freak face

I used my new Lime Crime Aquataenia palette for this look.

Crazy colorful weirdo going to Target makeup

I know I used Sugarpill Flamepoint and Dollipop but everything else after that is a blur. Once again, tried of trying to get a "pretty" picture

This was Fyrinnae, a TON of glitter with a little of Lotus Noir from Lime Crime.

IMATS Haul - Bdellium Smoky Eyes brush set

I really wanted to get some new brushes at IMATS. I looked at a gazillion brushes that day and sadly either they were WAY out of my price range or really cheaply made. I really liked the look and feel of the Bdellium brushes and luckily they had a set in my price range. I am pretty happy with my current face brushes so I decided to get the 5pc Smoky Eye set which was $20. Normal pricing on this set is $24.30 which is still a great deal for 5 makeup brushes.

Here are some details from the Bdellium website:

The collection of perfect blending and lining tools you need to create beautiful smoky eyes. Brushes that are included in this set are: #781Y Crease, #777Y Shadow, #769Y Angled Contour, #760 Liner/Brow, and #716Y Smoky Eyeliner.Bdellium Tools Yellow Bambu series brushes are professional eco-friendly makeup brushes with all sustainable bamboo handles and all vegan soft synthetic bristles with an anodized aluminum ferrule. Bamboo is one of the most sustainable resources and environmentally sound plants on Earth. Due to its rapid re-growth cycle, it can be harvested with virtually no impact on the environment. All of the soft synthetic filaments used in the Yellow Bambu series are not treated with an antibacterial agent. The advantages of synthetic bristles includes less or no hair shedding compared to natural bristles, it is easier to clean and provides a light application. The synthetic bristles are hypoallergenic and 100% cruelty-free.

781 Y Crease Brush
This brush is probably my favorite of the bunch. It is a nice sized crease brush. The bristles are soft yet firm.

#760 Liner/ Brow Brush
So I have grown up and tossed my $1 elf eyeliner brush in exchange for this one. This brush is REALLY small so it works well for doing small precise application . I use it on my brows and really like it so far.

769 Y Angled Contour Brush
Okay I really have no clue how you use this brush on your eyes. It is the second one of it's kind that I have had. Explain this to me please. LOL

716 Y Smoky Eyeliner Brush
This is a new brush for me. I have never had a brush this shape before. I have used it for smoky liner and like it so far. I do forget I have it though and end up just using my finger to smoke out my liner

777 Y Shadow Brush
This is probably my second favorite out of the bunch. I love small shadow brushes. It is a perfect size in my opinion for precise application.
Overall I am  pleased with these brushes. The pricing is VERY fair and on the cheap side. The brushes are well made, soft and do a good job at what they were intended for.  It is a great stash building set or workhorse set. They are eco-friendly which is a plus as well. I am going to be doing some googling and asking around to see what are some must have Bdelliums to try next.

Do you have an Bdellium brushes? If so, which ones and what do you think about them?
