My skin care routine unveiled!

Quite a few people ask me about my skin care routine and what I am using. My skin has undergone such an improvement over the last year so I thought I would share. This is MY routine and obviously will not work for everyone. I still like to try out new things here and there but for the most part I stick with the same weekly routine. I have combination skin, my chin and around my mouth tend to be very dry and my cheeks and forehead tend to be oily.

Morning -
After I wake up I wash my face using a cream cleanser. Normally I use Say Yes To Carrots cream cleanser but for the last month I have been using Own Rejuvenating Cleanser. I used to hate cream cleansers because they did not foam up when washing. I related bubbles with clean. It took awhile but I noticed some great results in my skin from using Say Yes To Carrots cream cleanser. I prefer it over the Own cleanser only because the formula is a bit more creamy and I like the scent better.

Then I usually will do an eye cream. I will use either Lumene Time Freeze Firming Eye Cream or Own Lifting Eye Cream. Both are very nice formulas. I do not have a lot of wrinkling around my eyes yet, ( THANK YOU LORD) so I feel like these creams are helping prevent them.

Then I moisturize using Own Anti-Aging Broad Spectrum Dual Protecting SPF30 Day Lotion. Before this I was just using a generic Olay lotion which seemed to do a decent job. I really like this new lotion by Own because it goes on smoothly and sinks into my face without feeling heavy or greasy.

Bedtime -
Before I go to bed I wash my makeup off and my face at the same time using Neutrogena Fresh Foaming cleanser. I am in LOVE with this cleanser. I apply a dime size amount to my hands and that is all I need to get all of my makeup off. Even the black gel liner and mascara. I gently rub my face and eyes and it comes right off. I have heard that using an all in one cleanser like this can be bad for your eye skin because it is overly drying. I personally find it better for eye skin because you are not tugging, rubbing or pulling to get your eye makeup removed. As long as you use a good eye moisturizer you will be fine.

Then I add my eye cream again either Lumene Time Freeze Firming Eye Cream or Own Lifting Eye Cream. After that I like to use a lifting or tightening serum. I use either Lumene Instant Lift Serum or Own Firming Silk Concentrate. I prefer the formula of the Own Firming Silk Concentrate. It goes on a bit more slippery then Lumene and makes my face feel great by the time I wake in the morning.
After that I do a final moisturizing using either Lumene Firming Cream or Own Refining Hydrating Night Cream.

Weekly Additions-
I use my Clarisonic Mia with a cream cleanser normally 3-5 times a week. I truly believe the Clarisonic is what keeps my face looking it's best. My skin has improved SO much since using it.
Once a week I use the Dermaroller along with a Hyaluronic Acid sheet mask. I swear by the Dermaroller. It has improved the look of my skin tremendously.

I also highly recommend drinking water. A lot of it. I drink water all day long and it really helps improve the look of my skin. If I do not drink enough water or drink a lot of alcohol my face shows it. So drink up!!
So there is my skin care routine. Is it perfect? Probably not. I am not the most knowledgeable when it comes to skin care so I like to try things and watch for the results. I recently added a retinol cream to the mix and my face FREAKED OUT. It was dry, oily and broken out BADLY. I stopped using the cream and my face returned to normal within a week or two. My routine now is really giving me the results I am looking for.

Do you have any skin care tips you would like to share? How about a product you love? Tell me about it!

Spread The Love #2

I am doing this again! Last year I was able to send out over 36 gift bags filled with makeup to special ladies nominated by you, my readers! Last year was a huge success with MANY donations. You all made it possible to brighten the day of ladies who really needed. This holiday season I want to share and spread even more holiday cheer. This year I am on a tighter budget so I will need help again!

Here is exactly what I am doing. I am compiling various makeup and beauty items and making up complete gift bags. These gift bags will be sent to ladies nominated by you who are in need of a pick me up this holiday season. I do not pick and choose who will get a bag, I plan on sending a bag to everyone nominated. I am purchasing makeup myself, taking money donations and product donations as well. Last year the response to this was unbelievable. So many companies sent full size products, many readers spent their own money to buy products and many people donated Paypal to help with the high shipping costs to send out the bags. Last year I planned on doing 10 large bags but so many people donated and there were so many ladies who deserved a pick me up so we did over 36 bags instead. This year I am not going to do a set amount. I am going to do as many as I can. I also am going to do a poll after I am done compiling the products to see if you all would rather me do a smaller amount of larger gift bags or more smaller ones.

I want these bags to be even more awesome than last year! I am looking for all types of cosmetic items from samples, full size products, deluxe samples, skin care, perfumes, paypal donations to be used towards purchasing products and shipping. All I ask if the products be brand new, sealed and if Indie, have ingredients listed on them. If you are interested and would like for information or to donate please email me at Glittermomto6@aol.com.  Also if you donate PLEASE send business cards with your stuff so I can add them to the bags.

These bags will be sent out to ladies who are nominated by you. You can nominate yourself or someone you know who could use a pick me up. Maybe times are hard , or you just can't afford to treat yourself lately. Going through a tough time or do you just get overlooked during the holiday season because you are a mom? Anyone who could use a gift of cheer can be nominated. I will be accepting nominations as the holiday season approaches. I love giving during the holiday season and I am so excited about this. If you know of anyone who would be interested in donating products please pass this link along.

Here are the links from last year if you would like to read! Also if you donated or received a gift bag please comment below and talk about your experience!

Super Duper Day!

I came across this jaw dropping gorgeous look on the Sugarpill facebook page and new I have to dupe it. I actually printed the picture out and hung it above my vanity so I can look it all the time. This is such a perfect look IMO.

This look was done by Josi Van Kit.
You can see the look on Makeupbee here
and check her blog out here.

Laura Gellar Blush N Brighten

What is it?  Laura Gellar Blush N Brighten in Pink Grapefruit

 How much is it?  $31.00

 Where to buy it? http://www.laurageller.com/store/cheeks-baked-collection/products/blush-n-brighten-1

What is it supposed to do?
Text from the product listing on Laura Gellar website.
Rich tones of marbleized pigments are swirled together in a soft, silky, powder for a glow-giving blush with universal appeal.  Each of my blushes blends multiple pigments for just the right shade of color for all skin types.

What does it ACTUALLY do? I found this product to live up to it's claims. It gave me a gorgeous blushing color with a kick of brightness.
Overall thoughts?  I really love this blush! It is a gorgeous color and it brightens up my face really well. It was very easy to apply, went on smoothly and blended out nicely. I would definitely buy this blush again and plan to get some other colors such as Honey Dipped and Golden Apricot.

Have you tried Laura Gellar Blush N Brighten? If so, what did you think?

Ben Nye Grand Lumiere Colour

What is it?  Ben Nye Grand Lumiere Colour in Starry Night

 How much is it?  $9

Where to buy it? I buy ALL of my Ben Nye from Batts AVL

What is it supposed to do? Grand Lumiere colours are brilliant, shimmery eye shadows that can be used wet or dry.

What does it ACTUALLY do?  This is a gorgeous black shadow that goes on ultra smooth and has glitter and shimmer mixed throughout. You can really see the amount of glitter/shimmer in the last swatch picture.

Nails!

Are you shocked! A nail post! I decided to get creative and do some sponging on my nails. My nails usually super short and my cuticles are always torn up but they looked okay here so I thought I would share!
First I did two coats of fluorescent pink polish by Sally Beauty, then I sponged some Zoya Tru on, on top of the Zoya I layered some Sally Hansen Blue Me Away and Sinful Colors Midnight Blue and then topped off the entire nail with some Sally Hansen Disco Ball. I normally use Seche Vite as a top coat but I can't open my bottle so I used Out The Door which I bought from Sally Beauty Supply.

Tarte 24/7 Natural Lip Sheer

What is it? Tarte 24/7 Natural Lip Sheer in Summer Fling.

How much is it?  $10.00  ( I got this from a friend, I traded a custom sewn item for it)

Where to buy it? Tarte, Sephora, Ulta

What is it supposed to do? Text from the product listing on the Tarte website-

"All the lasting power of a lipstick--with the moisturizing, high-sheen properties of a lip gloss! These budgeproof, moisturizing lip sheers with added SPF 15 give a "your lips, but better" effect that makes them perfect for when you want a kiss of color without looking overdone."

What does it ACTUALLY do? This lip balm is very moisturizing and it did give me a "My lips but better effect" but the formula was very thick and tasted bad.

Overall thoughts?  I really loved the color of this lipbalm but the thickness of the formula paired with the taste totally turned me off. When you first apply it, it is very thick and pasty. I am not sure what the flavor is that turns me off but it is quite strong. I do put it on when my lips are really dry because it does moisturize them quite quickly but I would not buy this lip balm again.

Ingredients:

Active Ingredients: 8.0% Zinc oxide, 5% octinoxate, 5% oxybenzone, 3% octocrylene. Other Ingredients: Pentaerythrityl tetraisostearate, lanolin, octyldodecanol, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, microcrystalline wax, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax, bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, C30-50 alcohols, C10-30 cholesterol/lanosterol esters, tocopheryl acetate, trihydroxystearin, flavor, butylene glycol, phytantriol, tiliroside, retinyl palmitate, ascorbyl palmitate, tocopherol, ubiquinone, triethoxycaprylylsilane, silica, tin oxide. 8 Bit Cosmetics - Ooo Shiny Collection

I am a bit late on posting this but last month I opened my mailbox to find an awesome surprise! A glitter filled package from 8 Bit Cosmetics! It was an 12 pots of glittery goodness also known as the, Ooo Shiny Collection!

This collection is made up of 12 glitter blends (.004 cosmetic grade glitter).

I really love some of these glitter blends. To see out the full collection or to purchase check out 8 Bit on etsy. Full size pots are $4.00 and sample size is only $1.00!! Below are some of my favorite blends from this collection.

Smashing Pots
green/gold glitter blend

Starlight
 black/silver/multicolor glitter blend

Poison Sting
purple/green glitter blend

Summons
red/orange/gold glitter blend

My absolute favorite blend in this collection is Starlight! It is gorgeous and exactly what I have been looking for. I wanted a black/holo glitter to use over black shadow for like the last year! All of these glitter blends are gorgeous and complex. Fairy Dust has been renamed to Bottled Fairies so keep that in mind if you are looking for it in the shop.

Glitter in the sunlight

 Glitter with flash
Overall I really liked these blends. Most of them are unique and not like any other glitter blends in my collection. Pricing is good especially for samples. I really like 8 Bit cosmetics and am excited to see the company grow! Have you tried 8 Bit Cosmetics? If so what did you think? What do you think about these glitter blends?
