Ahhhh!!! More new Sugarpill!!!

Coming soon that is! I just read on Mai's blog that Sugarpill will be debuting two new pressed palettes and some loose pigments in the near future. Dude, if this happens this year, then I have to say that 2012 has been my favorite makeup year. I love Sugarpill so I am super jazzed. Also those of you who were intimidated by the bold bright colors in the previous Sugarpill palettes are in luck! The new palettes boast smoky, metallic shades and beautiful shimmery pastels. The loose pigments are gorgeous and chalk full of glitter similar to the other Chromalusts. I am really drooling over the yellow and pink. Here is the link to Mai's post. I would love to have posted the pictures here but they are hers and you should go check them out on her blog!

5 Minute Face

This really worked out so I had to share with you. The other night I had seriously less than 5 minutes to get some makeup on. I also had really dim light to work on. So what does brainiac do?? She picks the darkest, boldest colors. I amaze myself sometimes with how hair brained I can be. I used Afterparty and Poison Plum and put a TON of blue glitter on my lids. I also used Wild Thang blush by Pretty Addictions. I did a full face in 5 minutes and when I came into the "light" it actually looked nice. The blush was a bit nuts so I had to tame it a bit but overall I was happy. I wish I had better pictures but it night time and my lighting STINKS!!! What can you get done in 5 minutes??? If you have pics of a 5 minute look I would love to see!!

8 Bit Cosmetics, Review, Swatches and Giveaway

I recently got a nice big package filled with goodies from 8 Bit Cosmetics. This package was sent for free for review purposes. I had never heard of 8 Bit Cosmetics but the pigments they offered looked really pretty and I love to review new companies so I was quite excited when I received my package. Everything was packaged well, sealed with sifter seals and labeled.

I asked the owner and formulator, Nicole, to share some information about the company with me and here is what she said.
I guess my passion for make up started about 5 years ago though it was only 3 years ago that I finally hit pause on the millionth youtube make up tutorial i had watched and decided to go out buy some make up and try it myself. My first few looks were nothing to be proud of but in time i like to think that i got better. Over the past few years i entertained thoughts of a beauty related career. Despite my love for make up no careers i could think of drew me in to the point where i was willing to put the effort into being successful while also working full time. That changed when i started making my own eye shadows. What started out as a fun project (also inspired by some diy youtube tutorials) turned into something that i could see myself doing for a living.
The name 8 Bit Cosmetics came from my passion for make up and the old school gamer nerd in me. I'm a huge fan of anime, comics, older video games and just about all other things nerdy. I really wanted that to be seen in my eye shadows through the use of bright fun colors and nerdy names. When naming these collections i was inspired by the Green Lantern comic books. In the comics there are 7 different Corps each represented by a color of the rainbow and fueled by an emotion that corresponds with that color. For example Hal Jordan was a green lantern and his power was fueled by his will. The Core Collection was meant to represent each individual corps. The Darkest Night collection was also inspired by a Green Lantern comic. In the comic many superheroes were taken over by a black ring that turned them evil. Originally i was going to be a bit more literal by making each color a variation of black only changing in undertone or color of shimmer but i decided that a darker shade of each color would be a better option.

The Core: Hope, Violet, Indigo, Will,
Fear, Rage, Avarice
Darkest Night: Hope, Love, Rage, Avarice
Fear, Will, Compassion

These pigments came with a sifter seal and were JAM packed with pigment. I removed the sifters so you could see the product better and because I hate sifters . 8 Bit offers 5 gram jars filled to the with brim with 2 grams of pigment for $4. She also offers the option of no sifter. NICE!! Samples are also available for $1 and each sample comes with 0.5 grams of product in a 2"x2" zip lock bag. Currently 8 Bit has 14 different pigments to chose from but plans on having more colors released soon.

When swatching these I immediately fell into love with Hope, Violet and Indigo. My goodness are these ever my colors...right??? I also really liked Fear from the Darkest Night collection. It is a really pretty orange/yellow. All the pigments swatched nice and smooth. I was impressed thus far.

 Pigments with flash

Pigments in the sunlight

I used Fear, Will, Hope and Indigo for this look. These pigments applied wonderfully. They blended smoothly and stayed opaque. I really really like these pigments. I am very impressed with the colors and formula. Nicole hand blends each color herself and I must say that Fear and Indigo are my favorites at the moment but really all of them are so pretty.

My overall opinion of 8 Bit is a good one. The pigments are great, the 5 gram jars are only $4 and are jam packed. They offer a limited color range at the moment BUT the colors they currently offer are very pretty. Nicole shipped my package very quickly and all the products were labeled professionally and packed very well. I will definitely order from 8 Bit in the future when the new colors are released. Bridal Makeup!

I recently did the makeup for a friends wedding and wanted to share some of the pictures with you all.  I have been dabbling in doing makeup on others. My neighbor and her friends have been my guinea pigs on quite a few occasions and I feel like I am pretty good at it so I am going to pursue freelance makeup artistry. Right now I am in the beginning stage, basically assembling a kit and hopefully soon I can start working on more people. When the offer to do wedding makeup came up I will admit I was nervous. The bride, Michelle came over and we did a test look ( the look above) which she loved but decided she did not want any shimmer/sparkle in the wedding day look. After the test look I felt a lot more confident and was really excited to do the wedding day look
Here is the finished wedding day look minus the lipstick. I ended up using MAC Foundation, MAC Pink Swoon blush, some MAC Bronzer and the eyes are all Coastal Scents 88 Matte Palette. I entered this look in the BFTE Bridal Competition on MakeupBee. The contest ends in a few days so please go and "LUV" this look for me!! I only need to place in the top ten to get a prize and be in the running for a grand prize.
Click the link, https://www.makeupbee.com/look.php?look_id=44005&qbt=userlooks&qb_lookid=44005&qb_uid=1254 then you can click connect with facebook ( you do not even have to make an account, easy!!!), then you can click NO to MakeupBee having access to your FB account ( like all the FB apps ask) then click on the LUV button near the top left of the picture!

I hopefully will have some professional close up pictures from the wedding to share soon. I did the makeup for all 3 of the girls in the photo above. It was a really fun experience and I look forward to working on more brides in the future!

Nails!!

Haven't seen one of these in quite a long time now have ya!!! My nails are actually a decent length! Normally I hate long nails but I have been trying to grow them out so I can actually paint them and they can look like nails instead of tiny paint chips lol. Growing them hasn't been easy, my nails are pretty thin and tend to peel. PITA!!! I did this manicure on Saturday and it last only that day, the next day it was already chipped and peeling off. GRRRRRR. What is the secret to keeping the polish on?? I used Sinful Colors Midnight Blue, China Glaze Crackle in Lightning Bolt, OPI Gone Gonzo Glitter and Seche Vite Top Coat.

Guest post by JessJamify from Randomly Beautiful

Hello there beauty babes!! I have just recently, for some strange reason, been on somewhat of an organization kick. I think it all started when my husband came home with a new desk and mirror for me to use as my vanity, and once I took my old set up out and put the new set up in, I knew I needed to rethink my stash and how I organize. I needed something more practical, easy on the eyes, and cheap.....
If your anything like me, sometimes you have a product and just forget you have it, either because it gets lost in the sea of other products you have or you simply just forget you have it. I had this problem with my lipsticks and lipglosses. I absolutely love my lip products, but what I was using as storage really kinda sucked and it made it a little difficult to display what I had, making it harder to be accessible for me to use.

I really didn't want to spend any money, so I just utilized what I already had. About a year ago, while I was at Micheal's Craft Store, I purchased a couple of these "beauty boxes". They came in all different sizes and had really cute girly patterns on them. Until now, I kinda had them tucked away because I was unsure of how I wanted to use them.

Because the back of this box has a flat surface, I had my husband drill this into my wall right next my vanity, and I just slid my lipsticks right in there. Some people might prefer to color coordinate them, but I prefered to do so by shape. All of my NYX diamond sparkle lipsticks, and my maybelline color sensational lipsticks have the square packaging and my NYX round label lipsticks and mac lipsticks have the round lipstick tube and so I stuck them together, side by side.

I LOVE this so much! I think it looks so much better than what I had, it displays nicely, and all my lipsticks are at an arms length. It's pretty and practical...just what I needed and because I couldn't neatly fit my glosses in the same beauty box as my lipsticks, I decided to use this really cute cookie jar that my mom got me for mothers day and put my glosses in there. It just looks so cute sitting on top of my vanity.

I hope that all you beauties enjoyed this post, and I hope, if your in an organization rut, it gives you a little bit of inspiration to work with what you already have =)

"Fairy Eyes" Tutorial featuring Beauty From The Earth

I posted this look last week on my Facebook page and the owner of Beauty From The Earth quickly reposted it to the BFTE fan page ( I am so flattered!!!). On both pages the look got quite a few comments and requests for a tutorial. My looks are always spur of the moment. Rarely are they planned out so I tried to recreate this the best I could! I also took all the pictures using flash so you could really see wear to apply the colors so sorry it is a bit harsh. Hope you enjoy!

The pigments used for this look are all available at

Here is what you will need to recreate this look.

  1. Apply concealer just below the eyebrow onto the brow bone Apply your eye primer from lid to brow and  blend the concealer in. Then apply your base as shown in the picture. Lightly blend out the edges of the base shape using your ring finger.

2.  Take your eyeshadow brush and get a generous amount of Kastra. Our goal is to really pack the color on so it opaque. Pat, DO NOT RUB, Kastra into the inner eye area and about a third of the way across your lid taking care not to apply above the crease.

 3. Take the same brush and get a generous amount of Zaniah. Using the same brush with the previous color residue on it helps with the blending. Pat it on the middle third of your eye overlapping into Kastra. Take care not to apply above the crease.

Here is what your eye should look like now.

4. Take the same brush and apply a generous amount Meissa to the outer third of your eye and bring it over slightly into the crease. Remember, PAT do not rub. Do not overlap Meissa on Zaniah.

5. Now grab your fluffy brush. Dip lightly into Kastra and tap ALL excess pigment off the brush. Using quick back and forth motions very light apply Kastra to the inner eye over where you originally applied it in step 1. Slightly overlap into Zaniah. Also blend out the top edge and bring it up slightly as shown in the picture below. Do this until you are happy with the blend between the two colors.

6. Using the same fluffy brush, dip lightly into Zaniah and tap ALL excess pigment off the brush. Using quick back and forth motions very light apply Zaniah to the middle of the eyelid over where you originally applied it in step 2. Slightly overlap into Zaniah back into Kastra blending towards the inner eye. Also blend outwards into Meissa.  Do this until you are happy with the blend between the two colors.

Here is what your eye should look like now.

7.  Take the same fluffy brush and dip into Meissa. Tap off ALL excess pigment. Starting at the outside edge blend Meissa inward towards Zaniah blending the line between the two colors. Lightly blend the outer edge and top edge of Meissa and brig the color up into the crease and inward all the way through the crease to your inner eye. Keep doing this until you are happy with the blend.

I was not particularly happy with my inner eye so I added more Kastra with the fluffy
brush and blended it in. If you are happy with your look then skip this step.

 8. Take your fluffy brush and Lava Momma ( I have the pressed version, loose works just as well). Get a small amount on the end of your brush and apply to the top edge of the shadow. Blend by lightly moving your brush back and forth across the entire top edge of the look, from the outer to the inner. Keep blending until you have a nice purplish/pink hue on the top edge.

Here is what your eye should look like at this point.

9. Now take your fluffy brush and using a tissue or cloth brush off all the pigment that has built up. Next using your neutral shade apply it all over the brow bone and LIGHTLY over the top edge of the shadow and around the outer edge as well. This helps really soften and blend the look.

10. Apply your liquid or whatever liner you prefer and add mascara.

and you are done!
As you can see it isn't an exact match for the original look but it is pretty good!

I hope this tutorial helped you out! If you have any questions please email me at glittermomto6@aol.com, leave a comment below or message me on facebook. Also if you recreate this look using this tutorial please post a picture on my facebook or link me to it! I would love to check it out!
