Ulta Haul - Part 2

You can expect a part 3 and probably a 4.
I have decided I will do a giveaway with the eye shadow palettes and a liner or two =0)
Today I tried out the lip gloss, lipstick and the Ulta Precision Liquid Liner.
The lip gloss and lipstick both came in my free gift bag. Which I think Ulta is out of.
Sad Face!!!

I can't find the double ended lip gloss on Ulta's website to link you.
It is Cosmo on one end and Charmed on the other.
It went on pretty smooth. The lighter pink (Charmed) is hard to get out of the tube.
The wand stays pretty dry. This gloss is still too sticky for my liking but not as sticky as e.l.f tube glosses.
I like the colors a lot because I normally use sheer light colors on my lips.

Let me start off by saying this is my first tube of lipstick in over 5 years. I am just not a lip color person. I feel like I look weird in lip color. I want to try and live outside of my comfort zone so I decided to keep this and try it out.

I was very pleasantly surprised at how sheer the color was on. I like it! It goes on smooth and isn't very waxy at all. This retails at Ulta for $8. It was rated 4 out of 5. Not bad!!
Because I have no lipstick experience I cant say how this stands up to other brands but I do think I will purchase a red and a nude in the future.

I paid $8 for Carbon Black but on the website it listed for $9
This eyeliner currently has no ratings.
Upon opening this eyeliner I was surprised. I did not know it was going to be an eyeliner pen. I thought it was a typical tube with a brush.  As you have heard about a million times, I am having issues with my liquid liner not looking smooth. I took one look at this and wasn't happy. I have even worse luck with pens. They seem to dry out quickly and I just suck at applying them. This one is different! This one is FILLED with eyeliner . I cant imagine it drying out. I applied it and was pleased. It came out pretty smooth and went over my pigment well. Other pens have dried out even more when I have tried to apply them over pigment.

UPDATE:  This eyeliner pen is already showing signs of being dry! grr!! I am now storing it tip down at an angle . I will let you know what happens.
Check out that smooth line!!! Yeah Baby!!!
I will continue to use this eyeliner and most likely purchase it again!

This brings us to my EOTD.
Princess, Plaid is Rad, Blow and Sour all by Virus Insanity

My Ulta Haul - Part 1

My Ulta haul wasn't huge but I really want to talk about each product individually
so I will be doing several posts on my haul.
This was free in my gift bag, if you spend $17.50 or more on Ulta brand products you get a bag filled with Ulta goodies valued at $88!
 This mascara retails for $10
My before
My eye looks horrible and sickly!!! EWWW Sorry!!
My after
I like this mascara, it glided on smooth, the applicator was nice and it has great consistency.
Would I buy it for $10?
No, only because I like my Loreal Double Extend better and it is cheaper than $10
I do like this for when I am lazy and do not feel like using the 2 step Loreal.
It got a 3 out of 5  rating on Ulta.com
Have you ever tried this mascara? If so, what did you think??

This was my splurge item. After buying it , I felt really stupid. I did NO research on gel eyeliners. I never heard of Pur Minerals either. I asked the lady and she said she used and loved it. Being a newbie to gel liner I really have no idea if this is good or not. I paid $17 for this pot.  It got a 4.3 out of 5 rating on Ulta.com
If you have been reading you know that I have been having issues with my liquid eyeliner not going on smooth. I am not sure if it is my eye, my application or the applicator. Who knows. All I know is I have ruined many eye looks because of crooked messy looking liner. This liner is more forgiving for sure. I have been putting it on with an angled eyeliner brush. Is that right? How the heck do you clean the brush after using it? This liner is pretty heavy and messy ( sticky) so it is hard to wash out of the brush. I got some of this on my hand and it would not come off with soap and water, I had to use makeup remover. I reckon that is a good thing!!! This pot seems like it will last forever which is a plus.
Here is a quick eye lined
This is leaps and bounds better than what my liner has been looking like lately!!
So would I recommend this liner?  I think so... I like it. I have nothing to compare it too but it seems like a lower priced gel liner. It has some insane staying power. One thing I do not like is that I do need to go over the line at least 2 times to get a bold solid black color. Is this normal with all gel liners?

Here is my EOTD.
Random purple, Random Green and Virus Insanity Intoxicated on the eyes.

My first visit to Ulta!!

UWe went furniture shopping today and after numerous hours of sitting on random couches I noticed there was an Ulta across the parking lot. I was secretly excited.
I really do not want my husband to think of me as some makeup addicted freak so I contained my giddiness. After spending a small fortune on furniture for our family room I casually mentioned that I seen an Ulta across the parking lot. You would have thought there was a 90% off sale on tools at Sears how quick that man whipped the car around and drove to Ulta. He loves me <3
He proceeds to tell me he is giving me $100 and that I should get something for myself .
I swear he is too nice.
He dropped me off at the door and said he would drive around to keep the kids happy while I shopped.
Have I mentioned how insanely awesome he is??
So before I get out of the car he hands me $60 and says, I better not give you the whole $100.
LOL!! He knew better!!!
I walk in and am instantly overwhelmed. It is jam packed full of pretty things!! I had no idea where to start to so I just started browsing. Being new to "real" makeup, I had some sticker shock. Truthfully I used to use Wet N Wild with an occasional $4 or $5 drug store brand.
So seeing a $24 lip gloss almost made me shit myself =0x
I was going to leave without buying anything because I had no clue what I was doing when I remembered they carried NYX Jumbo pencils. See, I melted and potted mine and I hate it!! So I grabbed one and then decided to just bite the bullet and ask for help. I asked the fancy lady in the black smock where was a good gel eyeliner for under $20. She looked at me and she said, " Do you mean like a smudge pot?" . I say, "Yes" even though I have no clue. So she takes me to one and hands it to me, I take it and promptly walk away.
I decide I will throw caution to the wind and just buy it. On my way out I noticed the large display of Ulta cosmetics and decide they are more my style ( in pricing). I noticed they had a white eye crayons so I ditched the NYX pencil and also grabbed a blush and liquid eyeliner pen. I qualified for a free gift bag for purchasing over $17.50 in Ulta cosmetics. I have no clue on the quality of Ulta cosmetics but I do imagine they will be better than some of the .99 stuff I have been using!!
Here is my haul.
I got
Pur Minerals Gel Eyeliner in Carbon
2 Ulta Eyeshadow Quads
4 Ulta Brushes
 Ulta Mirror
Ulta Precision Liquid Eyeliner Pen in Carbon Black
Ulta Amped Lashes in Jet Black
Ulta Double Eyeliner Pencil in Chocolate/Black
Ulta Lipstick in Sheer Rose
Ulta Eye Crayon in White Wedding
Ulta Double Lip Pencil in Rose/Halo
Ulta Lip Gloss in Cosmo
Ulta Blush in Adore
Ulta Blush in Afterglow
Ulta Nail Polish in Pink Leather

I spent exactly $42.96

Not so bad!! Overall I am happy with my experience at Ulta and with the products. I do not have much in my makeup stash other than my eye pigments so this giftbag rocks!
I will do a more in depth review of each product as I use it. I did swatch and try the blushes.
 Afterglow and Adore

Madd Mail!!!

I was lucky enough to snag 2 of the PIF grab bags that were on sale at Madd Style last week!
I got my order today!!
I am in LOVE with the colors I received!!!
Shipping was very fast as usual and the packaging was perfect!
Sifter seals on the pots, everything bagged and secure!
Here is what I got for myself
( one bag was for a friend and some of it was for an upcoming giveaway)

Lip Balm in Flapjack flavor.
I tried this and it has great texture. Glides on smooth and isn't too greasy or waxy.
I am not a huge maple fan though but I planned on giving this to my husband anyway.

Sample of Lip Scrub.
I tried this today and it tasted good =0x
It is a sugar scrub and the crystals are fairly big and do their job at scrubbing.
It did feel a bit harsh to me but maybe I was too rough .
My lips are definitely more smooth!!!

Brad is my new favorite. I am in LOVE LOVE LOVE with this color!!
It has made me realize that I need more Easter egg pastel colors!!

I swatched for you!!

Lust For A Life is a nifty color!! It looks pretty drab in the pot but you apply it and it becomes something awesome!! A purple/gray/brown/who the hell knows color!!

Dazzle Dust........is something I have never seen. I thought it was just white pigment with some glitz. Well it isn't. It reminds me of flaky snow or something. It has different size particles and is really cool. I will have to experiment with it soon!

I really love all these colors and I look forward to using them!
If you missed my initial review of Madd Style you can check it out here.
Join the fan page to be alerted of sales and share your Madd looks!

Overall I once again am impressed with the quality and shipping time/
I know because I checked, that Mo sold  50 or more grab bags in addition to having a huge Valentine sale.
Her quality did not suffer AT ALL and her turn around remained the same.
That ROCKS!!

Prepare for photo bomb in 5,4,3,2,1!!!!!!!!!

I had to take a ton of pics to try and show the true color of this look.
I used Brad on the tear duct area and below the brow bone.
Space Oddity on the outer edges blended into the crease
 Ol' 55 on the lid
 Mascara is Loreal Double Extend.
Lower liner is Space Oddity and Brad

Keep your eyes peeled for a chance to win this!!!

Another dupe!!

I have decided I am going to duplicate one look a week.
There are so many awesome girls who do fabulous makeup looks!
Anna over at Snooglerat's Randomness has some KILLER looks. She is one of the first makeup ladies that made my jaw drop. She has some skills!! I talked to her and told her I wanted to dupe a look. There were SO many to choose from. She does some crease work that I am in awe of. I suck with the crease! I could have played it safe but I decided to go big.
I duped this.
Totally out of my comfort zone. She did wet application ( I suck at wet), Crease work ( I suck at crease work) and black lower line ( which I also suck at).
Her look used mainly BFTE colors.
Eyes:
-Urban Decay Primer Potion
-Beauty from the Earth loose matte mineral eyeshadow colors
Hangover (orange, used wet over entire lid)
Panurple (purple, in crease all the way up to below brow bone)
Patriot (navy blue, in crease faded below the Panurple)
Black (in deepest part of crease faded below Patriot)
-88 palette (lightest color in palette on brow bone for the highlight)
-Gel liner in Black, applied with liner brush
-Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero, on water line
-Maybelline Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara, color Black
I did not have any of those colors of course so I had to substitute or mix my own
Here is my look
I am fairly pleased with this. It lacks depth as usual. My orange was off  but overall I think it came out nice.
I am having issues with my top liquid liner. I just cant get it smooth anymore. I tried using an angled brush with wet black pigment but that didn't work  and my upper line ended up way bigger than I wanted.  Any tips???
Eyes
NYX Eyeshadow primer in White
NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk
Lid: Tangerine by BFTE
Crease : Random Black, Random Blue
Above the crease: Purple and Blue mixed
Liner: Black pigment used wet
Lashes: Loreal Double Extend
Brows: Klean Color pencil in Dark Brown

I really wish I had seen this look when I did my Halloween look. I was Cleopatra and this would have been perfect!!
